Winter is not kind to our skin, is it? And if you’re anything like me you’ll go to great lengths to keep your face hydrated throughout the season, but completely neglect the rest of your body. This quickly results in dull, dry and itchy limbs – plus the dreaded “flaky legs”.
The problem is though, that during the winter months it’s so cold that no one wants to spend an extra 10 minutes in the bathroom, stark naked, applying lotions and potions. Because you’d start to get frost bite!
So I’ve come up with a speedy, 3-step routine to combat dry skin, this winter. Follow all of the steps if you have the time, or handpick one or two rituals that you can easily add into your daily shower session…
If you have five minutes to spare…
Use a dry brush (along with the following two steps):
There are soooo many benefits to using a dry body brush every morning, before you step into the shower. Dry brushing helps remove dead skin cells, reduces ingrown hairs, boosts circulation, and overall gives you smoother, healthier-looking skin.
If you only have two minutes to spare…
Exfoliate with Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish™ Body (along with the following step):
I’m a BIG fan of Liz Earle’s Cleanse & Polish cleanser, so was naturally overjoyed when they launched a body product back in September. The body formula cleanses, exfoliates and hydrates the skin, leaving you with soft, super-smooth limbs. It also comes with an exfoliating mitt to use in the shower, so gets a big thumbs up from me!
If you only have 30 seconds to spare…
This spray-on body moisturiser is a miracle, I tell you! Just hop out of the shower and spritz it directly onto towel-dried or damp skin. It enables you to moisturise your entire body in a matter of seconds; and the formula absorbs really quickly so you’ll no longer have to stand around naked, getting cold, whilst you wait for body lotion to sink in.
It’s absolutely brilliant. But, a quick word of warning, it does make the bathroom floor very slippery, so be sure to put a bathmat down before you use it.
Do you have a winter skincare routine for your body that you swear by? Which products do you recommend? Comment below with any suggestions – I’m always looking to try new formulas!
