Trend Driven: Autumn/Winter 2012’s Modern Eccentrics
August 20, 2012
Fashion loves a shocking contrast, so in the season that elegant fifties-inspired silhouettes made a return to the runway a host of rebellious designers went in a totally different direction, presenting eccentric styles. Marc Jacobs loves to put on a show, and his collections for both Louis Vuitton and his namesake label had everyone talking (and smiling). Proportions looked slightly “off” with heavy layering and playful supersized accessories, whilst clashing prints and embellishments made it impossible to take your eyes off his designs. Bold styling continued in London, where designers have never been shy of straying from the mainstream. Disco fever reigned at Meadham Kirchhoff, whilst Louise Gray made a punk statement with vibrant clashing prints and mohican hairstyles. Take a look at Autumn/Winter‘s boldest collections…

There are no rules when it comes to A/W’s eccentric look. Pile on the layers, mix contrasting colours and prints and have no fear when it comes to accessorising. Helena Bonham Carter is the poster-girl for this playful and fun style! Here are some designs to get you in the mood…
