I Finally Found the Perfect Pair of Leather Leggings

Spanx Leather Leggings

{This post contains gifted product} | Are there any items of clothing that you’re desperate to add to your autumn/winter wardrobe, but they’re virtually impossible to track down? For years I had this experience with leather leggings.

I’ve tried on countless pairs real and faux leather leggings, over the past five or six years, and there would always be something wrong with them – whether that was the fit or the price (search “leather leggings” on Net-A-Porter for a major $$$$ shock).

I knew that if I ever found the right pair I’d wear them non-stop. And, just as I was about to give up the search completely, I discovered the Spanx Faux Leather Leggings. Which are truly, out-of-this-world amazing. Here’s the 411…

Why Spanx Leggings are the Best:

When I restarted my search for an affordable pair of leather or faux-leather leggings, in late summer, Spanx was the one brand that came up time and time again.

Their Faux Leather Leggings don’t appear to have much of a cult status amongst the UK blogging set (which is probably why I hadn’t come across them before), but they’re a HUGE deal in the US, as I quickly discovered after doing a brief Pinterest search.

As luck would have it, the Spanx team were visiting London, a few weeks ago. And I got to meet up with them to learn about their fashion offering, and try on all of their bestselling leggings. They have so many cool styles of leggings, including denim, velvet, moto and maternity. (Disclosure: Spanx gifted me three pairs of leggings, but I was under no obligation to write about them.)

The Spanx Faux Leather Leggings were just as impressive as the online reviews stated. They’re high-waisted and feature the Spanx “Power Waistband”, which provides tummy shaping and also gives the booty a boost. Sooooo flattering! There are no seams at the front of the leggings, which removes the risk of camel toe. They fit like an absolute dream (no sagging around the knees or butt, which I usually find with leather-look leggings). The fabric is soft, stretchy and really looks like leather. And they’re machine washable too! So, really, what’s not to love?

How to Style Spanx Leather Leggings:

Honestly, leather leggings are so easy to style. And that’s exactly why I was so desperate to find the right pair. Because ever since these Spanx beauties arrived in my wardrobe, I’ve built countless fall outfits around them. And I know they’ll be a key item in my A/W wardrobe for years to come.

Here are some of my favourite outfit formulas:

Casual: Leather leggings + Slouchy knit + Oversized sunglasses + Sneakers

Evening: Leather leggings + Lace or silk blouse + Heels or heeled ankle boots

Cosy: Leather leggings + Wool coat + Chunky knit scarf + Suede ankle boots

Work events: Leather leggings + Breton stripe tee + Longline blazer + Loafers

How would you style them?

It’s so hard to find a pair that aren’t totally icky. Honestly, these Spanx leggings are so good. The fabric doesn’t feel at all gross or plastic-y and they look exactly like leather.
