The Sustainable Underwear Brand You Need to Know About

Organic Basics Triangle Bra

{Gifted product} | As you know, I’m on a mission to become a smarter, more conscious consumer. I’ve almost made a complete switch to eco-friendly cleaning products, and I’m committed to cutting back on single-use plastic when grocery shopping (it’s hard). But the one area that’s still a big struggle is fashion.

I try to stick to the “better, but fewer” mantra, when it comes to shopping for clothes. However, it’s still not that easy to find stylish, yet sustainably made clothing. So I was thrilled to discover the underwear brand Organic Basics, which I first read about in Red magazine’s May issue.

Organic Basics was the brainchild of four friends, who wanted to create simple, sustainable basics for both men and women. “We think that the fashion industry is a real dirty bastard, but fortunately, there’s a better way of doing things,” the founders have said. “We put sustainability at the core of everything. That means better fabrics, practices, and longer lasting underwear, t-shirts and socks.”

I ordered the triangle bra in black and rose nude* less than 10 minutes after discovering the brand. They’re brilliant. Great quality, supportive (yet free from underwire), comfortable and made from 100% organic cotton. They also arrive packaged in paper bags – rather than plastic – so score points there too!

I shared how much I love the triangle bras on Instagram Stories, and the team at Organic Basics kindly offered to send me some more of their designs to try (my personal favourites are featured above). They also shared the 10% discount code, for anyone who is keen to try their basics. I’m sure you’ll love them as much as I do!

* At the moment the only “nude” in the lineup is very pale. So I’d love to see Organic Basics introduce a wider variety of nudes, suitable for different skintones, as the brand grows.

P.S. Three questions to ask yourself when shopping for new clothes.

  1. Marta says:

I definitely need to check out that brand, my ribcage is very thin and most bras end up hurting me so I need to check those out, they seem super comfortable.
