5 Things I Can’t Stop Talking About: June 2019

Desk Styling Setup

A few weeks ago I shared an assortment of my May 2019 obsessions, and the post performed really well. So I’ve decided to replicate the format for June, to see whether it’s worthy of becoming a recurring feature on the blog.

Here are 5 people, products, films and TV shows that I haven’t been able to stop talking about, this month…

Elizabeth Warren

I’ve always had an interest in US politics, but my desperation to see Trump removed from office has lifted this to new heights. And I’ve started obsessively following the Democratic primary race. (Which, to be honest, is a nice escape from all of the Brexit news).

There are currently 23 candidates vying to become the Democratic nominee in 2020. I like a lot of them, but Elizabeth Warren is my favourite by miles. I wish we had a politician like her in the UK. I’ve been watching her videos on Instagram and Twitter, and am so inspired by her thoughtful and progressive policies.

I’m not in the habit of sharing excessively expensive beauty products on the blog. But I’ve been using the Decorté Moisture Liposome Serum daily since autumn 2018 (press sample/gift), and I think it deserves a shoutout!

Prior to this experience I didn’t really get the obsession with serum. But this hydrating formula is absolutely heavenly. It’s lightweight and nourishing, and helps to improve the skin’s texture and create a plump, healthy look. As serums go, it’s really expensive. But I truly think it’s had a huge impact on my skin.

Always Be My Maybe

Have you watched Always Be My Maybe on Netflix yet? It’s a really fun romantic comedy, written by Ali Wong and Fresh Off the Boat‘s Randall Park. And it’s received a LOT of attention on social media, because Keanu Reeves makes a hilarious guest appearance, playing himself (you can watch part of the Keanu clip here).

I love a good rom-com, as you know. And although this isn’t 1990’s-mid 2000’s level of amazing, it’s really watchable. And, thankfully, we don’t see the heroine sacrificing her career in order to find love (so it beats the ’90s and ’00s, in that respect).

So far this summer, there have been few opportunities to wear sandals within the UK. But I’m feeling positive about July and August. And my feet are fully prepared for a knockout summer.

Solillas kindly sent me a few pairs of Avarcas (traditional Menorcan sandals, which I’ve been wearing for years) from their SS19 collection. And I’ve been slipping them on every time the sun creeps out from behind the clouds. The leopard print Avarcas are my favourites, but I also love the ankle wrap style. All Solillas shoes are made in Menorca, and are totally authentic!

The Real Housewives of New York

My love for RHONY is nothing new. But I feel like it’s been reignited, over the last few weeks. I re-watched a lot of the old seasons at the start of the month, when I was sick with stomach flu. And I truly think it is one of the most entertaining shows on television, right now.

To me, RHONY is so much more than the dramatic catfights (which, I’m sure, put lots of people off). I love the mix of loud and outrageous personalities, and it’s refreshing to find a show that centres around women in their fifties.

What have you been obsessing over, so far this month? Comment below to share the books, films, TV shows, music, purchases and products you can’t stop talking about…

What planner is in your photo? It looks great.

I wasn’t aware of Elizabeth Warren but will be googleing her immediately. Unfortunately a woman being chosen as the president on that side of the pond seems more unlikely right now than perhaps even 50 years ago.
On a happier note, I’m fully enjoying the heatwave and sunshine we have here on the other end of Europe right now. It’s Midsummer this weekend which means sun not setting at all, warm nights and a long weekend. May this continue for months! x

I actually feel optimistic about Elizabeth Warren’s chances. She’s rising in the polls every week, and Hillary did win the popular vote. So I do think the majority of American’s would be happy to have a female president. Fingers crossed!

OMG I am loving the new series of RHONY (I’m a massive RH fan overall). I am not here for Luann this series!
