Let’s talk about yellow. Do you wear the colour often? I don’t, and never have, but lately sunny shades have been appealing to me more than ever. When yellow is worn on the red carpet it looks so fresh, fun and daring (see Olivia Munn and Rita Ora for recent examples), so I’ve been making a conscious effort to brighten up my own wardrobe.
Finding a flattering shade of yellow is the tricky part (most hues suit dark and olive skin tones, but you can still pull off the look if you’re fair), so it’s best to dip into the colour with accessories. A zany pair of yellow stiletto heels add a certain something to classic blue jeans, and I love the look of a neon bra strap peeking out beneath a grey T-shirt. And, even if you don’t progress to a chartreuse summer frock, you can still have fun with Topshop’s pleated midi. Tone it down with black, navy and grey or make a statement with a contrasting cobalt blue camisole.

Also – on a totally unrelated note – have you noticed that slogan T-shirts only look good when they’re written in French? I’d never wear a tee emblazoned with “Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday” but run it through Google Translate and it suddenly becomes chic. It’s possibly not the case if French is your first language, but I can’t resist J.Crew’s days of the week tee. And, as luck would have it, it’s a great piece to team with bright yellow accents…
