How to Wear Your Skinny Jeans Like a Chanel Muse

Chanel Haute Couture Front Row Miroslava Duma Caroline de Maigret

There are two dream jobs that almost every woman on the planet would kill for (I say jobs, but they’re more like positions, because I don’t think either are paid gigs). The number one dream job: official girlfriend of George Clooney during Awards Season. You just have to look pretty, wear a few Armani gowns, avoid mentioning the words ‘marriage’ or ‘proposal’ and make small talk with Julia Roberts and co. for a couple of weeks. The second dream job: official Chanel muse. You also have to look pretty, must dress head-to-toe in Chanel and be willing to talk to Karl Lagerfeld about his cat, Choupette, at any given moment.

Interestingly, no one has ever been both the official girlfriend to George Clooney and muse to Karl Lagerfeld, but it could happen one day. Maybe YOU’RE the woman for the job?!

Anyway, Karl’s girls were all out in force earlier in the week, at Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2014 Haute Couture show. Tilda Swinton and Lily Allen stole most of the headlines, but I was most impressed by the amount of denim on the front row. I wear skinny jeans almost every day of the week, so I’m always looking for new ways to style them, and the Chanel muses weren’t short of ideas…

Italian princess, Melusine Ruspoli [above left], wore light-wash jeans with a matching denim handbag and a cropped raincoat. Miroslava Duma [above centre] favoured grey skinny jeans, which she tucked into suede over-the-knee boots and paired with a knitted cape, striped tee and wool beret. And model/music producer, Caroline de Maigret [above right], looked super cool in her rolled-up skinny jeans, which she teamed with patent black pumps and matching socks. (I have a feeling Caroline only manages to make this look chic because she’s French).

And whilst we’re on the subject of the Chanel front row, can we quickly talk about how cool Chinese artist Yi Zhou looked? I’m not sure if that’s a seriously tiny handbag she’s carrying, or a Chanel iPhone case, but either way I desperately want one too!

Were you impressed by the front row looks at Chanel’s Haute Couture show? Will you be styling your skinny jeans like one of Karl’s many muses? Let me know…

Caroline de Maigret makes socks and stilettos look so damn cool. I wish I could pull that off.
