Here’s a quick newsflash from the world of accessories: Timex have just launched their new Weekender Watch, and it’s really covetable. The casual style comes in an array of colourful options – including many of their interchangeable NATO straps – and the best part is it’s affordable, with prices starting at £49. I can’t resist a good timepiece, and have been wearing the Weekender 40 in tan nonstop since its release. The slightly retro, utilitarian look really appeals to me – especially as it ties into one of spring 2015’s key trends.
To celebrate the Timex Weekender collection I thought I would give you a glimpse into my perfect weekend. Although, in the interest of full disclosure, I should probably point out the following activities actually took place on a Wednesday. But for the sake of storytelling let’s just pretend it’s a Saturday morning, okay?
11.07am Coffee in Notting Hill
First on the agenda: caffeine! I meet Michelle Bobb Parris, who photographed this post, at Le Pain Quotidien for coffee and a much-needed catch up. I order a cappuccino and Danish pastry, Michelle opts for a Le Pain’s incredible green juice. Although there’s still a winter chill in the air I decide to wear my Chanel-inspired River Island jacket. But within half an hour it gets too cold, and the practical outerwear makes an unwelcome return. Will spring just hurry up and arrive already?!
12.30pm Manicure at Cowshed Spa
I have a lunchtime appointment at Cowshed, so we take a leisurely stroll over to Holland Park, pausing every five minutes to photograph pastel houses for Instagram. My nails have been a wreck since November (I suffer from Raynaud’s, so my fingers and toes react badly to any temperature below 13°C), and at-home manicures aren’t cutting it any more. I need some professional help.
Sitting still is not my strong suit, but I always relish a visit to Cowshed. The Clarendon Cross spa has a row of retro TVs lined up opposite the mani/pedi station, so you can watch episodes of Sex and the City whilst getting your nails done. I chose a bright orange Cheeky polish to match the laces on my Penelope Chilvers trainers, settle down in the plush armchair and watch “An American Girl in Paris: Part Une” whilst my fingertips get some much needed TLC. I can’t wait to return soon for a pedicure!
1.41pm Shopping at Portobello Market
I’m Wearing: Timex Weekender watch | H&M khaki jacket | SEA top c/o | J Brand jeans c/o | Russell & Bromley bag | Penelope Chilvers trainers c/o | River Island stripe jacket | Monica Vinader jewellery c/o | Ray-Ban aviators | Kate Spade New York Wallet
Before Michelle and I part ways we take a quick detour along Portobello Market. I stock up on my healthy essentials – avocados and purple sprouting broccoli – while Michelle finds even more material for Instagram. Seriously, Notting Hill and Portobello have to be the most photogenic areas in London, right?
Does this look a lot like your ideal lazy weekend? And do like my choice of Timex Weekender watch? See the full (very colourful) collection at Timex.co.uk.
