Earlier in the year I sat down with the team from Tropic Skincare to discover more about natural beauty, and I was surprised to learn that sunscreens are currently causing major environmental issues. The vast majority of drugstore SPFs contain UV-blocking chemicals (like octinoxate and oxybenzone) which are killing coral reefs around the world.
I’m now trying to educate myself more on the issue, and found Fashionista’s article on chemical sunscreens really interesting. Personally, I’ll continue to use my favourite SPFs day-to-day, but have decided to switch to Tropic’s mineral sunscreen whenever I’m at the beach.
