At the beginning of the year I was feeling particularly devastated about the world’s current political state, and the hate that seemed to be spreading around the globe like wildfire. Every time I looked on Twitter there was yet another headline that made me worry about the future. Things just looked so bleak. But then I read Gloria Steinem’s memoir, My Life on the Road, and it helped to restore a sense of hope.

Gloria Steinem has witnessed a lot of bullshit in her time. But she’s remained dedicated to social activism throughout her life. Earlier this week Gloria spoke at the Creative & Cultivate conference in New York, and Refinery29 were able to sit down with her before she took to the stage.
