I’ve finally reached a point in my life where I’m happy to accept a certain inalienable beauty truth: I’m never going to be the girl who always remembers to apply lipstick before leaving the house. Gwen Stefani I am not.
In an ideal world I’d be more of a maximalist, and actually put the beautiful hot pink and vivid red lipsticks I own to use. But instead they sit gathering dust. And, you know what? That’s okay. I’m terrible at precise application, forget to reapply throughout the day and manage to smudge lipstick all over my face whenever I eat.
So, nine times out of ten, I leave my lips completely bare or opt for a low-maintenance nude. And here are the absolute, very best nude lipsticks. Well, in my humble opinion, of course…
Lancôme Shine Lover in Twisted Beige #212 – This shade is a personal favourite of Lisa Eldridge (and an international bestseller), so you just know it’s going to be good! All Shine Lover lipsticks have a hydrating balm-like texture that’s super comfortable, and #212 strikes the perfect balance between pink and brown/beige.
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in #54 Boy – The first lipstick I ever fell head-over-heels in love with, Boy is very similar to #212. In fact, they shades are almost identical. However, there’s a subtle shimmer in Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks, so Boy catches the light more and looks a little glossier. It’s also so hydrating that I often wear it instead of lip balm.
Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color in Seduction – I tend to save this beige-y nude shade for the evening. It’s a liquid lipstick with a comfortable matte texture – boasting a lightweight, non-sticky formula – and it offers great pigmentation. Ironically, whilst #212 and Boy look more like lip glosses, this gives of a classic lipstick effect.
So, now it’s your turn to share… What’s your favourite nude lipstick?
