7 Summer Makeup Favourites

Summer Makeup 2017

It’s been quite a long time since I last wrote about makeup. And that’s mostly because I’m incredibly boring and stick to the same tried-and-tested routine every day of week. So there has been little to report. However, this summer a few extra beauty products have slipped into my daily routine, and here you’ll find a full rundown of the summer makeup buys I’m currently loving…

Charlotte Tilbury Unisex Healthy Glow Hydrating Tint: I accidentally took this tinted moisturiser to Menorca, thinking it was the Overnight Bronze & Glow Mask. Thankfully my disappointment quickly subsided, because Healthy Glow Hydrating Tint is such an impressive product! It creates an instant, natural-looking tan and also evens out your skin tone. It’s perfect for holidays, as the tint makes you look so healthy and rested you can skip foundation altogether. {Shop Here}

NARS Velvet Shadow Sticks: I’ve never been a huge fan of cream eyeshadows (they glide around too easily on my oily lids), but I’ve recently got into NARS Velvet Shadow Sticks. ‘Nepal’ – a nude, slightly sandy pink – is my go-to shade. And, for added definition, I smudge a bit of ‘Dark Angel’ or ‘Corfu’ into the crease of my eyelids. The velvet texture has good staying power and doesn’t crease or smudge throughout the day. {Shop Here}

Origins Ginzing Tinted Moisturizer
Beauty Pie Pro Glow Superstrobing Drops

Beauty Pie Pro-Glow Superstrobing Drops: Although I already featured Beauty Pie’s Superstrobing Drops in the Weekly Wish List, I feel like it deserves another shoutout. I’ve been mixing one drop in the palm of my hand with Charlotte Tilbury’s Light Wonder foundation before applying, and the powerful combination gives my skin the most outrageous, luminous glow. I literally receive compliments all day when I’m wearing Pro-Glow. One drop really does go a long way… {Shop Here}

TOM FORD Blush in ‘Frantic Pink’: I’ve never been much of a blusher girl, if I’m honest. I usually skip the step altogether and just focus on bronzers and highlighters. But a few months ago I was introduced to TOM FORD’s dreamy ‘Frantic Pink’ blush, and now it’s rare that I got out in the evenings without a gentle sweep of this across my cheeks. The pale pink shade has a subtle gold shimmer, and is really flattering on pale skin. The one downside: at £48 it’s mega pricey! {Shop Here}

Clinique High Impact Waterproof Mascara: This is an oldie but a goodie. It gives lashes impressive length, volume and thickness (without looking spider-y). And it doesn’t smudge in heat and humidity. You can even take a dip in the pool if you’re wearing it on holiday. It won’t budge! I return to it ever summer. {Shop Here}

Tom Ford Frantic Pink Blush

Origins Energy-Boosting Tinted Moisturiser: As you can tell, I’m very much into tinted moisturisers this summer. Along with Charlotte Tilbury Unisex Healthy Glow, another favourite is Origins’ Energy Boosting formula. The lightweight moisturiser features SPF 40 and gives skin a very natural tint.

One small word of warning though… Because of the sheer tint release technology, you need to be very careful to blend along the jawline properly when applying. I find it takes a minute or two for the tint to develop, and on more than one occasion I’ve blended before the colour has fully settled and then been left with telltale makeup marks along my jawline. {Shop Here}

NARS Satin Lipstick in ‘Orgasm’: Everyone is familiar with NARS ‘Orgasm’ blush, and the latest addition to the ‘Orgasm’ family is the satin lipstick. The subtle peachy pink hue features flecks of shimmering gold, and makes a beautiful daytime lipstick. It’s been a very long time since I grew this attached to a lipstick… {Shop Here}

  1. Usually I do not wear much make up in the summer but this year is just SO COLD, I actually get to experience more of it (at least something…).

      Haha that’s an unexpected silver lining. It has been pretty cold (and very wet) in London too. Such a shame!

  2. I love your summer favourites! I think I’m going to give that Tom Ford blush a try! It looks fab! I just did a post on my summer favourites too – mine are the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue and the Chantecaille highlighter!

    • cocos_tea_party says:

      I’ve never used any Bare Minerals and really need to explore the brand properly. Aside from Complexion Rescue are there any other hero products in the range you would recommend? x

    I don’t find that these ones crease, but I think it probably differs from person to person like all cream shadows.
