10 Summer Holiday Style Essentials

Summer Holiday Style Tips

What’s your packing strategy when it comes to summer travel? I always worry that I’ll forget something vital (like underwear or my phone charger), so I start packing at least three days in advance and try my best to stick to a colour palette so that everything can be mixed and matched upon arrival.

The entire packing process is such a headache though. And, to help ease the stress, this summer Joules invited Monica Welburn and myself to take part in a packing challenge. They asked us to select 10 summer holiday style essentials for our recent jaunt to Menorca, and prove that less really can be more when it comes to packing.

Here you’ll find the 5 Joules style essentials that I chose for our holiday. And you can head to The Elgin Avenue blog to see how Monica completed the list…

Joules Summer 2017

1. A Stripe T-Shirt

You can’t create a list of “style essentials” and not include a stripe T-shirt. It’s just the law. They are the ultimate daytime style staples! And Joules do the best striped tees in the business… For Menorca, I opted for navy and cream stripes, and paired them with floral prints and lots of denim.

2. Statement Shorts

For reasons unknown, I’ve completely gone off skirts. I haven’t worn or purchased one in close to a year. But that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped getting my legs out – I just much prefer shorts right now. I guess it’s because they’re so much easier to wear (you don’t have to worry about accidentally flashing your knickers, for one thing).

These ditsy print floral shots are perfect for a holiday at home or abroad. Pair them with stripe T-shirts, button-down denim shirts of lightweight knits for a super-relaxed look.

Joules Leopard Print Sandals

3. Day-to-Night Sandals

As you know, I can’t resist a bit of leopard print. So it would have been impossible for me to travel without Joules’ leather sandals. They come in three colour ways: leopard and tan leather, navy and blush pink suede, plus black and monochrome leather. And the fact that the two-band design is so simplistic means they’re ideal for both day and night. So if you’re trying to pack light they’re the perfect summer companion!

How to Style a Bardot Top

4. A Flirty Bardot Top

There’s something so flirty and French about wearing an off-the-shoulder top in the summer. Joules’ chambray Bardot top with embroidered sleeves immediately captured my heart, and I love how it looks with white jeans. I’ve also been paring this design with denim cut-offs and tailored shorts in a navy blue. And, if you’re not a big fan of blue, you might be pleased to hear it also comes in pink.

Joules Fedora Hat

5. A Chic Sun Hat

I’ve always made sun protection a key priority when I travel, and wear SPF 50 on both my face and body. Thankfully my skin isn’t actually prone to sunburn (weirdly I don’t seem to burn or tan – even if I go without SPF), but, I always think it’s best to be careful. And I like to keep harsh UV rays off my face with a chic sun hat. I love the hot pink stripe on this Joules design!
