AD: this post contains affiliate links and gifted products | I love following makeup artists and beauty bloggers on Instagram, and I’m always completely awestruck by their skill and creativity. I would love to be the kind of woman who rocks a different beauty look every day of the week. But I simply don’t have the talent (or the patience).
Instead, over the years I’ve fallen into a comfortable routine, and apply the same makeup 95% of the time. And below I’m sharing my everyday makeup routine from start to finish…
SKINCARE: I always prep my skin before applying makeup. At the moment I’m using the Caudalie Moisturising Toner, followed by the Dr Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Hydration Booster serum, Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream, and Olay’s Total Effects Whip Moisturiser.
I’m not as religious about wearing SPF during the winter (I know – my bad!). But if it’s going to be a bright day I also whip on some of the Elemis Daily Defence Shield SPF.
BASE: Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation has been my go-to for years and years. I absolutely adore it! The lightweight, liquid formula provides medium coverage, and leaves the skin with a really nice glow. I wear the shade ’10 Beige’ and always apply it with my fingers.
CONCEALER: I have a lot of concealers in my daily makeup bag, because my two areas of concern are my dark under-eye circles and some hyperpigmentation around my nose and mouth.
For dark circles I usually start with the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Neutraliser pen in ‘Apricot’, which neutralises dark tones. I then apply a light layer of concealer on top – either Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer in ‘Créme Brulée’ or the Charlotte Tilbury Retoucher in ‘2 Fair’. (I use a small BeautyBlender to apply all under-eye coverage).
For redness and pigmentation I favour the bareMinerals BarePro 16Hour Full Coverage Concealer sticks in shades 02 and 03. The formula provides amazing, long-wearing, crease-proof coverage. Honestly, it’s the most incredible concealer – I never leave the house without popping one of the sticks into my handbag!
BRONZE & BLUSH: Once I’ve applied foundation and concealer I set my makeup with a transparent powder (Beauty Pie’s One Powder Wonder is the best I’ve ever used), and then add some warmth to my complexion with the Charlotte Tilbury Film Star Bronze & Glow palette.
I don’t wear blusher every day, but when I do I favour the bareMinerals Gen Nude Powder Blush. ‘That Peach Tho’ is my favourite shade, as it gives a warm, sunkissed look.
BROWS: I’m very low maintenance when it comes to brows. The only product I apply to them is Glossier Boy Brow in ‘brown’. It thickens and grooms brows without making them look drawn on or filled in.
EYES: I’m not very ambitious with eye-makeup, and stick to tried-and-tested shades of taupe, mink and gold. The MAC ‘Amber Times Nine’ palette is probably my favourite of all time.
I always start by washing a soft, neutral eyeshadow shade over my eyelids (9 times out of 10 that will be MAC ‘Kitties’). And I then blend a slightly darker shade into the crease of my eye socket for depth. I finish by lining my lash-line with a dark, chocolate brown eyeshadow.
If I’m going out in the evening I’ll follow the same routine, but I might line my lash line with the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in ‘Black Ink’ instead. Or define my lower lash-line with chocolate brown eyeshadow too.
LIPS: I’m more into lip balm than lipstick. But when I do wear colour on my lips I generally select one of the following shades: Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in ‘Boy’, Glossier Generation G in ‘Crush’ or Chanel Rogue Allure Velvet Extreme in ‘Modern’.
What does your daily makeup routine look like? Do you also favour any of the products on my list?
