As you know, I love a bit of bohemian-inspired fashion. I’ve been coveting the embroidered summer dresses from MARCH11, Ulla Johnson and Tory Burch all season. But, at £500+ a pop they’re not particularly attainable. And if you live in the UK it’s unlikely you’d be able to balance out that investment through cost-per-wear, because – let’s face it – we have crap summers.
It’s been hard to find similar designs on the high street (most likely because it’s difficult to replicate quality embroidery on a budget). But, surprise of all surprises, Next are totally leading the way when it comes to boho style, this season…
First came the embroidered blouse that everyone went crazy for. And, leading on from that top’s unprecedented success, they’ve also ticked the “MARCH11 boho dress dupe” box with this red maxi dress and their black, embroidered mini.
I’M WEARING: Embroidered maxi dress by Next c/o | Ballet flats by La Redoute | Leather jacket by hush c/o | Straw tote bag unbranded (alternatives here and here) | Aviator sunglasses by Ray-Ban | Hoop earrings by Dinny Hall c/o
I have every one of the aforementioned boho-inspired designs from Next’s spring/summer 2017 collection, and can vouch for the quality. Aside from this red maxi dress, every piece is 100% cotton. And I’ve worn (then machine washed) each piece numerous times already, and the embroidery still looks as good as new.
I’ve been paring this maxi dress with snake-print ballet flats and leather or khaki jackets for summer days in the city. But I’m just as excited to wear it with delicate sandals when on holiday. And I even think it could work for autumn if you teamed it with suede boots and a felt fedora. It’s proving to be a great new addition to my summer wardrobe, that’s for sure!
