Clearly I missed the memo about May being the official month for collaborations. Has it always been this way, or is it a total coincidence that a bunch of cool partnerships have dropped at the same time? Kate Moss for Topshop has stolen most of the headlines, but it’s just the tip of the iceberg. So here are seven more fashion and beauty collaborations to shop this month. Let me know which collections are getting you to part with your pennies…
Sophia Webster for J.Crew
Everyone was raving about this collaboration when it launched last week, and luckily you can still shop selected styles at J.Crew, Net-A-Porter and Net-A-Porter USA. As you know, I’m a big fan of Sophia Webster, and her cute and colourful designs blend together brilliantly with J.Crew’s signature style. The smartie pants who came up with this collaboration concept deserves a promotion!
Harper’s Bazaar for Birchbox
UK Birchbox subscribers are in for a real treat this month, as the beauty box has been edited by Harper’s Bazaar. Expect a bit of Laura Mercier, Aromatherapy Associates, Philip Kingsley and Benefit’s infamous They’re Real mascara. And if you’re not already subscribed but want a piece of the action you can sign up to the service HERE.
Katy Perry for Claire’s
Katy Perry’s accessories collection for Claire’s is obviously aimed at the tween audience – not you and me – so it’s the perfect treat for your little sisters, nieces, cousins and goddaughters. However, there’s no shame in picking up a few of the earrings for yourself. They’re cheap, cheerful and a lot of fun. I love the gold tiger studs and the drop down chain earrings.
Proenza Schouler for MAC Cosmetics
Oh to be able to wear head-to-toe Proenza Schouler… Even Jack and Lazaro themselves once admitted they can’t afford to buy their own designs. But there’s finally a solution to that problem: the Proenza Schouler for MAC collection. Sure, an ombre blusher isn’t quite as exciting as a PS1 handbag, but it comes pretty close. I’ll be searching for that fabulous blusher brush!
Coco Rocha for BaubleBar
Coco Rocha is BaubleBar’s latest ‘Guest Bartender’ (a position has previously held by Ashley Madekwe and Courtney Kerr). Her collection is packed with affordable and fun costume jewellery and if you only buy one thing from the line make sure it’s a set of punky ear cuffs. I featured the phoenix wing cuffs yesterday, and also rate the lunar pearl design.
Calm & Collected for Jo Malone London
The London-based creative collective Calm & Collected have joined forces with Jo Malone London, to revamp the labels on five of their most popular fragrances. You can buy the limited-edition bottles exclusively at Selfridges. My favourite scent is Earl Grey & Cucumber – it sounds strange but smells heavenly!
Born Free and Shopbop.com
And last, but by no means least, there’s Born Free for Shopbop.com. This collection of womenswear and children’s clothes was actually launched a while ago, so some of the key pieces have completely sold out, but there are still some gems to be had. My top choice has to be the Prada Pleated Skirt (£150/$245), which is worn by Sasha Pivovarova and her daughter Mia Isis in the image above. 100% of the profits will benefit Born Free, the global initiative with a single goal: to end mother-to-child HIV transmission by Dec. 31, 2015.
