Inside My Makeup Bag: 24 Hours In Paris

As you read this I’ll be making my way to Paris with the Next press team and five of my favourite UK bloggers. We’ll be spending 24 hours in the City of Light, drinking cocktails, eating gorgeous French food, learning how to make macaroons and strolling around St. Germain. I also plan to eat my weight in croissants, so may return four dress sizes larger. You’ll be able to stay up-to-date with all the Paris action on Twitter and Instagram, and obviously I’ll post all about the trip when I return. In the meantime, however, here’s a look inside my Paris makeup bag…

Paris Makeup Bag 2

I’ve tried to pack light – I’m using my dinky Antler cabin suitcase – but when you need both day and night looks it’s hard not to load up on the makeup. For the two-day trip I’ve packed:

Face: Laura Mercier Foundation Primer, £28 for full size //  Shiseido Sheer Perfect Foundation, £29 (it gives less coverage than I would ideally like, but sits so well on the skin and applies nicely with fingers – meaning I can leave my foundation brush at home) // Soap & Glory Kick Ass Instant Retouch Pressed Powder, £12

Eyes: Yves Saint Laurent Uptown Palette, £42 (for smokey eyes in the evening) // Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo in ‘On and on Bronze’, £4.99 // Benefit They’re Real Mascara, £19.50 for full and travel sized

Lips & Cheeks: Benefit Fine One One, £23.50 (blush, highlighter and lip colour all in one) // Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in ‘Boy’, £24 // Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1 in Mango, £9.50

Oh, and not forgetting M.A.C Studio Finish Concealer. I wouldn’t want to leave that at home!

And, on another beauty note, I’m hoping they’ll be time for a quick trip to Sephora. It’s always my first port of call when visiting Paris or New York (why the UK branches closed is a mystery to me). I’m desperate to try out the Marc Jacobs cosmetics line, so am hoping it’s stocked in Europe as well as the USA…

What’s your go-to makeup for short city breaks? Are you a fan of any of the products featured above? Let me know…
