How to Dress Up a Military Coat

Ella Gregory Next Military Coat

You can’t really call military coats a trend item, because they never go out of style. However, they are firmly back in the spotlight for Autumn/Winter 2016. And I for one am very happy about it.

I love that military coats can instantly elevate the most simple of outfits, and they always bring a bit of polish to your wardrobe. Right now I’m especially keen on maxi styles, and have fallen for Next‘s long-line khaki design. It looks great worn with an oversized knit, leather leggings and trainers; but I’m also enjoying dressing it up for evening. And, the best part is, if you order the coat online before midnight it will be delivered to your door the very next day.

How to Style a Military Coat For Evening

To take Next’s military coat into evening I’ve paired it with their floral print velvet dress. I’m not usually one for bodycon minis, but the high neckline and long sleeves make this dress feel more sophisticated. And I also added a pair of Next’s studded Western boots, which I adore, and a playful sequin handbag.

Next’s accessories collection is not to be knocked, this season. And I’m currently questioning how I can house half a dozen more shoes. Top of my wish list are these pink metallic loafers, the embroidered shoe boots and neutral over the knee boots.

Do you like the way I’ve styled this military coat for evening? And have you which pieces from Next’s AW16 collection are catching your eye? Leave a comment below to let me know…
