Like many of you, after the third week of November I lose all enthusiasm for winter and go straight into hibernation mode, dressing exclusively in chunky knits, skinny jeans and ankle boots. It’s basically all you will see me wearing from now until March 20th! And boy does it get boring…
So, this year, I’m trying to spice things up a bit by elevating my chunky knit selection. And I’ve teamed up with Tu at Sainsbury’s, who have a fantastic range of stylish and affordable knits, to give my winter uniform a much-needed boost. Here are three looks I put together with their current collection – let me know which is your favourite!
How to Elevate a Chunky Knit
1. PLAY WITH TEXTURE
This knit is my absolute favourite! It’s so cosy, works brilliantly with every style of jean you could possibly imagine, and looks like it could be from Maje or Sandro. Literally, I don’t think anyone would believe you if you told them this jumper was £22 from Tu. The design is so luxe!

2. ADD A SPLASH OF FAUX-FUR
If in doubt add a bit of faux fur to your outfit! That’s what I always say, at least. I really enjoy the matchy-matchy pairing of this burgundy red knit and the fringed booties. And the faux fur scarf is such great value and takes the look up a notch. (FYI: the scarf also looks great with a leather biker jacket).
3. EXPERIMENT WITH DIFFERENT SILHOUETTES
I added this knitted cape/poncho to my order at the last moment on a whim, and didn’t expect to like it. But it’s like wearing a hug. And can we just talk about these tortoiseshell heel boots for a moment too? Because they’re absolutely beautiful. I’m completely obsessed with them – and it helps that they’re also extremely comfortable. So bravo, Tu, bravo!
Do you also spend most of the winter dressed in chunky knits, skinny jeans and ankle boots? And have any of these Tu pieces caught your eye? Leave a comment below to let me know…
