Who’s on Your Fantasy Dinner Party Guest List?

Oscar de la Renta Table Setting

Okay, picture the scene: you’re about to put all those hours spent procrastinating on Pinterest to good use and you’re hosting one seriously chic dinner party. There are five empty spots on the guest list, and you can invite anyone you wish. Who would you chose?

It’s one of my favourite questions to ask friends, because their answers are always really carefully considered. After all, anyone can pick out eye candy for a knock-out “freebie 5” list, but a dinner party requires the perfect mix of personalities. My own fantasy guest list changes often (I could never do a Ross from Friends and get it laminated), but I think I’ve finally settled on the dream team…

Fantasy Dinner Party Guest List

After much careful consideration I’ve opted for Nora Ephron, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Jessica Parker, Tina Fey and Jennifer Lawrence. Five smart, funny and stylish women who are/were never short of things to say.

I also asked some of my friends to share their fantasy dinner party guest lists with me, and here’s who they chose:

Monica: “My fantasy guest list would include Amy Astley (Editor in Chief at Teen Vogue), Margherita Missoni, Blake Mycoskie (founder of Toms), Sarah Yates (blogger) and Frida Kahlo.”

Dani: “Diana Vreeland, Gisele, Tom Ford, Hillary Clinton and Frank Sinatra are all on my fantasy dinner party guest list.”

Simon: “I would invite Princess Margaret, Cher, Sharon Osbourne, Joan Collins and Christopher Biggins. Everything would be served on Versace plates and the menu would include things like gold leafed vegetables!”

And now it’s your turn. Who, dead or alive, would make it onto your fantasy dinner party guest list? Leave a comment and let me know. I can’t wait to see your choices!

  • I’ve never really thought about this because it’s so difficult to choose, but I’d go for Blondie, Emily Weiss (Into The Gloss), David Mitchell, Victoria Coren Mitchell and George Alagiah. The first two don’t really go with the last 3 but oh well.

Haha that is a very unlikely mix, but brilliant!

  • Shay

Emma Watson, J.R.R.Tolkien, Victor Hugo, J.K.Rowling and Miyazaki Hayao. We’d probably need a translator or two, but I think that would have to be my favorite dinner party group.

  • This is hard but Lena Dunham, Lee McQueen, Quentin Tarantino, Freddie Mercury, and either Sylvie Guillem or JK Rowling

  • parkncube

Hey what about me. Jennifer Lawrence, her stunt double, and a looklike, maybe.

  • parkncube

    And Dolly Parton

  • Kirstine

Heath Ledger, Hugh Jackman, Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock aaand.. Clint Eastwood or Humphrey Bogart for some old-school class.

    • cocos_tea_party

Sandra Bullock almost made my list too!

  • Faye Jones

I would invite Jacqueline Wilson, Karl Lagerfeld, The Olsens (they count as one right?!?), Chris Hadfield, Eminem and Nicki Minaj
