It’s been a while since I last went on a date. And whilst it’s been nice to take a break from the rather hopeless millennial men of London, I do miss date night dressing. Especially as I’ve just stumbled upon the perfect date night outfit idea for summer.
A few weeks ago the WtR summer 2018 lookbook hit my inbox, and their pleated lurex skirt immediately caught my attention. I love the slightly earthy tones that form the rainbow of stripes. And also appreciate the fact you can make the maxi look as formal or as casual as you wish.
I’m Wearing: Multicoloured knit skirt by WtR c/o | Black vest top by ASOS | Khaki utility jacket by Next c/o | Black stiletto heels by Christian Louboutin (past season – similar here and here) | Cross body bag by Topshop | Tassel earrings by Accessorize
So far I’ve mostly been wearing the skirt with plimsoll sneakers and snake-effect flats, slogan tees and my onyx grey leather biker jacket. It’s a great look for daytime, but I feel like this beauty was really made for date nights.
And, I kid you not, it’s actually given me the motivation to step up my dating app game. I downloaded Hinge with the sole purpose of lining up a date so that I can give this outfit a proper spin! Let’s see if I can find a man worthy of the rainbow skirt…
And, a quick word of warning about this WtR skirt… It’s really long. Like, made for supermodels long. I’m 5’6 and even in heels I find I have to pull the waistband up to sit slightly above my natural waistline, otherwise I’m forever stepping over the hem. So, unfortunately, I’d say if you’re below 5’5 it will probably be too long for you.
Do you like this date night outfit idea for summer? How would you style the rainbow skirt? Leave a comment below to have your say…
