5 of the Best… Colourful Spring Coats

Bright Coats Spring 2014

Shop the Edit: 1. Sophie Hulme two-tone trench coat at Net-A-Porter and Net-A-Porter USA | 2. Camilla and Marc bomber jacket at The Outnet | 3. Philli Wood for Warehouse techno parka | 4. Leather biker jacket at Karen Millen | 5. Pink boyfriend coat at Topshop and Topshop USA

Good news: Spring has officially begun. Bad news: it’s still not warm enough for a coat-free existence. The solution: a lightweight statement coat, of course. And if you don’t already own a piece of colourful outerwear now is the perfect time to pounce. After months of pink coat mania every major retailer is pushing some version of the spring jacket – be it a apple green biker or a hot pink parka.

I’ve narrowed the current selection down to five key styles – the trench, the bomber, the parka, the biker and the overcoat – so you don’t have to do any of the work.

If you’re looking for a smart investment purchase you can’t go wrong with Sophie Hulme’s trench coat. It’s a classic style that you’re sure to return to every year, and the bubblegum-pink sleeves just give it some added spice! However, if you’re after something a little more daring, look to Warehouse’s techno parka, which was designed by up-and-coming British designer, Philli Wood. I’d wear it with a grey sweater, black skinny jeans and a pair of Converse sneakers.

Which of these spring coats is your favourite? Let me know…

This is a really fantastic selection – the Sophie Hulme trench and that green biker especially. Yum.

  • I like the pink one from topshop! X

Love the green biker, it’s so daring. Have an olive green leather bomber, but looking for a gorgeous new trench coat this year.
