Beauty Boost: Six Products I Can’t Stop Raving About

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation Beauty

It’s been a while since I last shared a round-up of my personal beauty favourites, and in that space of time there have been a few notable changes. I have a new go-to foundation and a new signature scent. Get all the details on the six products I can’t stop raving about right here…

Scents: If you prefer men’s colognes to overly floral perfumes I have just the scent for you: Amber Eau de Toilette by Laboratory Perfumes (£55). It’s warm, woody, spicy and very strong. Basically heaven in a bottle! And if Amber isn’t for you, the rest of the Laboratory Perfumes line is just as delightful. Make sure you go in for a sniff next time you’re passing Liberty or Donna Ida.

And, in other scent news, I’m also loving Neom Organics’ Sensuous Home Candle (£39.50), which is a rich blend of Ylang Ylang, Frankincense and Patchouli. It’s said to ease tension and anxiety, but I’m more excited about the 50-hour burn time and slick, black packaging.

Eyes: Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup collection was my favourite beauty launch of 2013, and the Colour Chameleon Eyeshadow Pencils (£19) are high on the list of must-have products. The shades are cleverly matched to different eye colours and the creamy texture makes it easy to layer other shadows on top. Lately I’ve been covering my lids with ‘Dark Pearl’ for brown eyes, before finishing the look with a slick of Long–Wear Gel Eyeliner by Bobbi Brown (£17.50). The Bobbi Brown liner in ‘Black Ink’ isn’t as dark as MAC’s jet black gel liner, but I find it glides on easier.

Brows: If you find eyebrow pencils a bit of a struggle (how do you find the right colour?!?) you might be pleased to discover B by Blink Brow Bar’s Brow Powder (£15). At the moment there are only two shades available – ‘Cinnamon Spice’ for dark blondes and ‘Indian Chocolate’ for brunettes – which isn’t great. But the powder is slightly easier to control than a pencil, blends easily with a spoolie brush and stays in place for hours.

Skin: And, last but not least, comes my latest foundation obsession… I’ve been using By Terry Serum Foundation for a few months, but felt it was time to switch up my routine as the matte coverage has started to make my skin look dry (I blame the cold, windy weather). After much deliberation I finally settled on Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation (£32). The ultra-fine fluid formula blends beautifully and creates a really pretty glow, which magically makes my skin look a little tan. If you like a heavy base this foundation isn’t for you, but for a step up from tinted moisturiser you can’t beat this product. It’s my new personal favourite!

Leave a comment and let me know which beauty products you’re loving at the moment. I’m always looking for new things to try (especially bargain drugstore buys), so give me a shout…

Charlotte Tilbury stuff is divine isn’t it. Amber sounds interesting will have to sniff. Budget beauty wise I’m loving the Revlon matte balms at the mo, also TopShop lip bullets and have my eye on something from the new Tom Ford collection (not so budget friendly…)

  • I love this post, Ella! These are also some of my favourite beauty products, and right now I am obsessed with Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation (I’ve gone back to it after years of straying) and BB Cream, red lips almost every day, Obsessive Compulsive Lip Tar (the most pigmented lip colour you will ever find) and rose oil on my face every night.
