Kate Moss, Lara Stone & Natalia Vodianova Cover W Magazine’s March Issue – Which Cover is Your Favourite?

W magazine has come up with a great way to boost newsstand sales, this month: give three hot supermodels their own gorgeous cover, so that the indecisive fashion-obsessed end up buying the March 2013 issue three times. Smart move. Kate Moss, Lara Stone and Natalia Vodianova were each photographed by Mert & Marcus, posing in sultry jewel tones by Prada, Saint Laurent and Burberry Prorsum. Take a look all three W covers and see if you can pick a favourite…

Kate Moss Lara Stone Natalia Vodianova W magazine cover March 2013

For me I think it’s got to be Kate Moss, on this occasion, but it was a pretty close call between her and Natalia. Although I “get” the Lara Stone cover I’m kind of turned-off by the ribbon. Do you feel the same? Which cover is your favourite?

W Magazine Photographs Stars Without Makeup

I hate those tacky tabloid magazine features that constantly alert you to stars without makeup, stars with celulite, stars with sweat stains etc, etc. Especially as they all continue to use that photo of Cameron Diaz suffering from a break-out before the 2002 release of Gangs of New York. It’s so boring/predictable. But anyway… for W magazine’s annual ‘movie issue’ Juergen Teller photographed an assortment of A-list stars with little or no makeup. And instead of looking like an UsWeekly special it’s really cool. Kristen Stewart is moody in an Isabel Marant leather dress, Naomi Watts dazzles the camera with a big Hollywood smile and Kerry Washington looks fresh-faced in a Burberry trench coat. Here’s a preview:

The full editorial is now online at wmagazine.com and also features Keira Knightley (with makeup), Nicole Kidman, Elle Fanning, Marion Cotillard, Amy Adams, Rachel Weisz and Frieda Pinto. It’s definitely worth having a proper look!

Emma Stone Gets the Juergen Teller Treatment for W Magazine

Emma Stone W magazine February 2013 Emma Stone covers the February 2013 issue of W magazine. The 24-year-old Gangster Squad star was photographed for “the movie issue” by Juergen Teller and models a strapless black bra and leather jacket. At first glance I thought it was the Maison Martin Margiela for H&M trompe l’oeil top, which looks similar.

The accompanying editorial is very stylised, so if you’re used to Emma’s polished Hollywood looks you may be a little surprised by the un-done nature of this shoot. I have to admit, it’s not my favourite look for the star, but I like the fact she’s open to trying different styling concepts.

This might be the only major cover Emma scores this year, as her next film release is the animated kid’s movie, The Croods, and then she’s off promotional duties until 2014. I’m sure it will be a welcome break for Emma, as last year was jam-packed with magazine shoots, but I’ll definitely miss her presence on the newsstand.

FYI: This is Emma’s second W cover. She was also photographed for the January 2011 issue. I don’t know about you, but I really miss her red hair. Let’s hope she dyes it again once filming ends on Spider-Man 2…

Have you ever seen anyone looking so depressed in such a beautiful Alexander McQueen dress? What’s wrong, Emma?

Are you pleased to see Emma Stone on W’s cover? Do you like the cover image, or has it failed to impress you?

Which is Your Favourite Jessica Chastain W Magazine Cover?

Jessica Chastain covers the January 2013 edition of W magazine. It’s the annual “Art Issue” and the 35-year-old actress appears on four individual covers – each designed by a leading artist. Jessica, as you can see, makes a wonderful “human canvas” and the four W covers are all so different. Take a look…

Which is your favourite Jessica Chastain W magazine cover?
My vote goes to the George Condo cover – I think it’s absolutely stunning! The accompanying editorial is now available to view online at wmagazine.com, and I urge you to check out the rest of the shoot.

Which is Your Favourite W Magazine 2012 Cover? Vote Now…

I was debating whether or not to do a feature on W’s 2012 covers, but once I looked through the archives on their website my mind was made up. W magazine created some truly amazing covers in 2012, so it would be a real shame not to take a proper look back at their shoots. The most memorable is, of course, Tom Cruise in costume as Stacee Jaxx, but W also gave Scarlett Johansoon a punk makeover, covered Jennifer Lawrence in feathers and stripped Carey Mulligan down to her underwear. See them all here:

January to June: Carey Mulligan, Brad Pitt, Kate Moss, Jessica Biel, Clive Owen & Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise

July to December: Joan Smalls, Charlize Theron & Michael Fassbender, Penelope Cruz, Jennifer Lawrence, Scarlett Johansson and Marion Cotillard

Which 2012 W magazine cover is your favourite? Vote now…
My favourites are Brad Pitt, Marion Cotillard, Scarlett Johansson, Penelope Cruz and Joan Smalls. But, for me, Carey Mulligan’s January cover is the clear winner. Unfortunately, Jennifer Lawrence’s October cover was one of my least favourites – along with the Charlize/Michael issue and Tom Cruise’s bizarre (but wildly entertaining) shoot…

In 2013 I’m expecting a Leonardo DiCaprio cover (wouldn’t that be amazing?!) and an appearance from Ben Affleck. I also think it would be really interesting to see Sandra Bullock on a W cover.

Which W magazine 2012 cover is your favourite? Who would you like to see in the magazine next year?

Jennifer Lawrence Covers W Magazine, October 2012

When I heard Jennifer Lawrence would cover W magazine‘s October 2012 issue I was very excited. But when I saw the actual cover I was quite disappointed. The Hunger Games star is covered in feathers and the OTT look doesn’t really suit her personality. I have major respect for the W team – and Jennifer – for trying something bold and out of the ordinary though…

You can see the accompanying Tim Walker editorial, which features more feathered creations at Wmagazine.com. Do you like Jennifer Lawrence’s W cover? Let me know your thoughts…
