Karlie Kloss Covers Vogue Australia in Prada’s Great Gatsby Costumes

Karlie Kloss Vogue Australia The Great Gatsby Baz Luhrmann’s remake of The Great Gatsby is finally released next month, after what feels like the longest wait ever. And you can guarantee there’s going to be a lot of Gatsby action in all of the major glossy magazines. US Vogue will definitely score the coveted Carey Mulligan cover, there’s no doubt about that (I’m guessing she’ll take the June issue, with Gywneth Paltrow for May). So it’s up to all the other, Carey-less, publications to get creative. And the competition is already heating up…

Vogue Australia are celebrating The Great Gatsby with their May 2013 issue. Karlie Kloss was photographed for the cover by Arthur Elgort, and models one of Miuccia Prada’s designs for the film. The Jazz Age look was finished with Tiffany & Co. jewellery – which was also created exclusively for the movie – and a flirty, flapper girl hairstyle. I think it’s absolute perfection!

Accompanying Karlie’s cover shoot is an exclusive interview with Miuccia Prada, where she discusses her collaboration with Baz Luhrmann and costume designer, Catherine Martin. The issue also inclues a behind-the-scenes pictorial documenting the making of The Great Gatsby, which was filmed in Sydney.

Naomi Watts Covers Vogue Australia in Gucci & Here Are 6 More Gucci Looks She Should Try

naomi watts vogue australia february 2013 gucci dress Naomi Watts covers the February 2013 issue of Vogue Australia, modelling a spectacular turquoise Gucci gown. I know it’s only the beginning of the year, but this is surely going to be one of the top covers from 2013, right? It’s absolutely gorgeous!

The 44-year-old actress is currently promoting her latest movie, The Impossible, which tells the true story of a family caught in the 2004 tsunami. Naomi has received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance, and she’s also expected to be up for an Oscar.

This naturally means I’m very excited about her Awards Season wardrobe. And after this fabulous Vogue cover I’m hoping Naomi – and her stylist Anna Bingemann – opt for more Gucci gowns. It would be a crime not to!

Incase you need persuading on the idea (and you really shouldn’t) I’ve handpicked six Gucci looks perfect for Naomi. There’s a bubble-gum-pink trouser suit from the Resort 2013 collection which would be perfect for a photocall or luncheon, another eye-catching green gown, and a failsafe LBD from the brand new Pre Fall line…

My favourite looks are the yellow strapless dress (we need another yellow moment to compete with Michelle Williams at the 2006 Academy Awards) and the leopard halter-neck gown. Which Gucci looks would you like to see Naomi wear?

Bella Heathcote Covers Vogue Australia’s September 2012 Issue

Vogue Australia’s September cover is really beautiful. Australian actress Bella Heathcote was photographed by Will Davidson for the latest issue, and models a dress from Christian Dior’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection on the newsstand cover. September marks the introduction of subscriber covers for Vogue Australia, with Bella posing in a bathtub full of pears on the subs edition. Both covers are so fresh and pretty, making it almost impossible to pick a favourite…

Abbey Lee Kershaw Covers Vogue Australia

Australian model Abbey Lee Kershaw covers the August 2012 issue of Vogue Australia. Yet again it’s a great cover for the Australian glossy, which continues to do everything you ask of magazines: photograph models and stop overcrowding covers with too much text. Abbey Lee models a selection of the key trends for Autumn/Winter 2012 in her accompanying editorial.
Speaking about her style Abbey reveals, “When I was younger I experimented with tones of different styles. I went from gothic to hippie to minimalist. I went through all of it and nothing ever really felt right until I stopped thinking about it… Now, I buy something because I like it.”

Daria Werbowy Covers Vogue Australia June 2012

As Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week kicks off in Australia the June 2012 cover of Australian Vogue has been released online, featuring model Daria Werbowy posing in a Balmain jacket. Daria was photographed for the magazine by Daniel Jackson and the accompanying editorial is just as sexy as the cover – filled with Pucci and Gucci. Check out Daria’s Vogue shoot HERE.
The Vogue Australia team have also produced a behind-the-scenes video of the June cover shoot, which you can watch now over at vogue.au. Although I’m not in love with this cover I certainly think Vogue Australia are continuing to go in the right direction – they’re very quickly reaching the level of their US, UK, Italian and Parisian siblings. Do you agree?

Joan Smalls Covers Vogue Australia May 2012

Here’s another triumph for Australian fashion… As you know, I’ve slowly been falling in love with the Aussie editions of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and the May 2012 issue of Vogue Australia has taken it to a whole new level. Joan Smalls was photographed by Kai Z Feng for the magazine, and models a dress from Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection
It’s interesting that Vogue Australia are doing pretty much everything die-hard fashion addicts have been asking for from glossy magazines. They’re using models, not overloading their covers with text and shooting on location – not just against a white backdrop. I’m impressed.
Do you rate Joan Smalls’ latest cover? And are you a fan of Vogue Australia?
