Shopping For: Dreamy Pre-Fall Investments

Pre Fall 2013 Shop the Edit: 1. Bib necklace by Adia Kibur | 2. Pleated skirt by Preen Line | 3. Leopard coat by Weekend by MaxMara | 4. Chain link bracelet by Love Rocks | 5. Cropped trousers by Michael Kors | 6. Heart print shirt by Topshop | 7. Faux pony purse by ASOS | 8. Hoop earrings by Eddie Borgo | 9. Suede courts by Topshop

I’ve barely had a chance to wear anything from my summer wardrobe, so far this year, and now the Pre-Fall collections are starting to arrive in stores. Typical! Already my new-season wishlist is getting out of control, and sitting at the very top is MaxMara’s leopard print coat. It was love at first sight the moment I spotted the statement design in Matches, and it would look fantastic worn over Michael Kors’ pink stretch-wool pants (another one of my Pre-Fall favourites).

I also have my eye on Topshop’s pretty heart print blouse and Preen Line’s pleated skirt. That fluro pink stripe is totally unexpected and unique, making it a buy-now-wear-forever investment. Are you ready to start shopping for Pre-Fall?

Shopping For: Chic Summer Style in the City

City Summer Style Shop the Edit: 1. Sleeveless shirt by Elizabeth and James | 2. Charcoal bra and matching briefs by Topshop | 3. Khaki shirtdress by Topshop | 4. Printed shorts by Marni | 5. Tote bag by Mango | 6. Scarf watch by Liberty London | 7. Cat eye sunglasses by ASOS | 8. Leather sandals by Tory Burch

I’ve always preferred dressing for the summer rather than the winter, but I know for many of you the opposite is true. Especially if you’re stuck in a sticky, humid city. However, dressing for the heat needn’t be difficult if you put together a capsule wardrobe filled with neutral colours, classic shapes and interesting details. Topshop’s shirtdress is easy to dress up or down (and also comes in navy blue), making it the perfect summer style investment. Pair the dress with Tory Burch’s leather sandals (now discounted on The Outnet), Liberty London’s scarf knot watch, oversized sunglasses and a lightweight summer tote. Summer style dilema solved!

5 of My Favourite Summer Flats: From Animal Print to Quirky Appliqué

Ever since the sun came out in London I’ve been wearing a selection of jazzy flats on repeat. Favourites include UGG Australia’s animal print slippers (which have a sheepskin lining – super luxurious), Next’s feminine T-bar ballerinas and my pointy-toed Russell & Bromley pumps. Here’s a look at the five styles I’m wearing on rotation right now:

Summer Flats
I’m Wearing: Russell & Bromley leopard slippers, c/o | Topshop face ballerinas, very old | Next T-bar pumps, c/o | H&M printed slipper shoes (in store only) | UGG Australia sheepskin flats, c/o

Topshop’s appliqué face flats definitely make the biggest statement (I wore them to my graduation ceremony, two years ago) but they rip your feet to pieces. Never trust a pretty face, I guess! Unfortunately the quirky design is no longer available at Topshop, but if you’re good at customisation you could create your own version with these ASOS ballerinas.

The Top Three Swimsuit Style Tribes for Summer 2013

Over the last few years skimpy bikinis have slowly been falling out of favour whilst statement one-pieces in a variety of colours, cuts and eye-catching prints take centre stage. It’s difficult to upstage a barely-there-bikini, but fashion-forward swimwear brands are finally making it possible. This summer there are three key swimsuit styles to try: retro shapes in classic prints; sporty cuts in bright colours; and cut-out designs in tropical patterns. Here are three of my favourites…

Swimsuit Styles Summer 2013
Shop Retro: Polka dot swimsuit by Topshop | Liberty print trainers by Gola | Fake tan by Clinique | Fisheye camera by Lomography Shop Sporty: Neon swimsuit by Adidas by Stella McCartney | Hair ties by Bop Basics | UV glow nail varnish by Illamasqua | Sandals by Opening Ceremony Shop Tropical: Floral swimsuit by Charlie by Matthew Zink | Sunglasses by ASOS | Cream highlighter by NARS | Sunhat by Eugenia Kim

I’m a tropical girl myself, and would be ordering the floral Charlie by Matthew Zink swimsuit right this second if I had a holiday booked. Surprisingly I’m also pretty keen on the neon Adidas by Stella McCartney swimsuit. Usually I shy away from sporty styles, but this asymetric design would look great with fluro jewellery, mirrored aviator sunglasses and a pop of Illamasqua’s UV glow-in-the-dark nail polish. What’s your favourite swimsuit style for summer 2013? Let me know…

Shopping For: The Perfect Grey Knit Sweater

Topshop Grey Rib Knit
Shop the Edit: 1. Neon necklace by Topshop | 2. Floral clutch by Christopher Kane |  3. Grey rib knit by Topshop | 4. Purple T-shirt by J.Crew | 5. Mid-rise skinny jeans by Current/Elliott | 6. Yellow sandals by ASOS | 7. Parka by DKNY

It looks like high street stores are slowly coming to their senses and realising we don’t really need countless embellished kaftans in May and heavy, wool coats in August. What we really want are clothes we can buy today and wear today. So kudos to Topshop for producing a flawless summer sweater. The Topshop grey rib knit is perfect for layering and can be worn as a light cover-up on warm evenings or paired with slick parakas and skinny jeans on muggy, grey days.

I’m tempted to order this knit twice, because I know like this is one item I’ll want to wear over and over again. Let me know how you’d style this dreamy sweater in the comments section…

Temporary Tattoos are the Latest Nineties Trend to Make a Comeback

The nineties are back in a big way. You only need to look at a candid snap of Rihanna, Cara Delevingne or Rita Ora to understand that much. Over the last 12 months we’ve welcomed back crop tops, Boy London, dungarees, slip dresses, tie dye, scrunchies (ick!), New Balance sneakers and high-waisted ‘mom jeans’. Even Leonardo DiCaprio, our favourite ’90s pin-up, is having a revival! So it was really only a matter of time before temporary tattoos returned as well…

Temporary Tattoos

Both Topshop and ASOS are stocking a variety of temporary tattoo designs, this season, and they all have a distinctly ’90s feel about them. Sadly no one has created a dolphin design yet (remember when dolphins were the hot tattoo?!) but I’m sure they’ll be available soon. In the meantime you can experiment with these bizarrely tropical temporary tattoos…

Would you wear a temporary tattoo this summer? I wouldn’t mind wearing the pineapple, swallow, flamingo and star designs, but I draw the line at the parrot! Let me know your thoughts on this look…
