7 Things To Do This Weekend: The Pancakes and Ryan Gosling Edition

It’s a Ryan Gosling weekend! Yep, Ryan’s latest movie The Place Beyond the Pines is finally out in UK cinemas, so you can see him rock the bleached blonde look, cradle a baby and make-out with his real-life girlfriend, Eva Mendes. If you’re not a Gosling fan, however, there’s still plenty to busy yourself with. Take a look at my 7 stylish weekend suggestions…

7 Things to do this Weekend Ryan Gosling Pancakes

1. Watch The Place Beyond the Pines Ryan Gosling’s latest movie is released in UK cinemas today. Ryan plays “a mysterious and mythical motorcycle racer” who starts robbing banks to provide for his girlfriend and baby. Eva Mendes, Bradley Cooper and Rose Byrne all co-star. Watch the trailer HERE.

2. Buy a tea dress… The tea dress is having a moment this season, and you have Bottega Veneta’s Tomas Maier to thank. It’s the one item you must have in your Spring/Summer wardrobe, whether you style the look in a grunge fashion, or go for the full 1940′s pin-up vibe. Topshop win the award for the best high street take on the trend. Their green floral design, pictured above, is an absolute must-buy. And it’s under £50 too! What more could you ask for?

3. Start reading a classic novel… I always like to read at least one classic/iconic novel over the summer. Some of my favourites include To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger and Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. I’ve just discovered The Guardian’s list featuring “The 100 greatest novels of all time“, so plan to read one of their suggestions next. Do you have any recommendations?

4. Wear a pineapple print… Moschino Cheap and Chic sent models down their Spring/Summer 2013 runway in playful pineapple prints, and you’d be crazy not to want a piece of the action. Find the fruity collection online at My-Wardrobe or snap up this lookalike pineapple print dress from ASOS.

5. Save your pennies… Are you always wishing you could afford a Balenciaga handbag or a pair of Christian Louboutin heels? Well now is the time to start saving. Stop making so many trips to Starbucks and instead stash your change in a piggy bank. Save £5 a week for six months and you’ll have £120 in your shopping fund. All you need is a stylish piggy bank and some will power! [Harry Allen for Areaware piggy banks pictured above.]

6. Eat pancakes for breakfast… It’s the weekend. You only live once. So eat pancakes for breakfast and be happy!

7. Perfect your blow-drying skills… As I’ve mentioned before, I lack any hairstyling skills whatsoever, but the one thing I’m determined to get better at is blow drying. Perfect, bouncy blow-dries are much harder to achieve than they look, so this weekend I’ll be arming myself with a ceramic barrel brush and John Frieda’s Fine to Full Blow-Out Spray. Fingers crossed the result is semi decent. I’ll keep you posted…

Emma Stone Talks “Writhing Around All Over Ryan Gosling’s Bed” With Glamour UK

Emma Stone Glamout UK Ryan Gosling Emma Stone covers the February 2013 issue of Glamour UK. The cover shoot is a reprint from the US edition, but it’s still worth picking up a copy, as Emma is on top form in the exclusive interview. She’s currently promoting her latest movie, Gangster Squad, where she plays Ryan Gosling’s love interest for the second time in two years. Obviously Glamour asked about Ryan (how could they not?!) and this is what Emma had to say:

“I can still remember the first time I auditioned with Ryan, for Crazy, Stupid, Love. My friends took me to the airport that night and when they asked me what I’d been doing all day, and I said that I’d be writhing around all over Ryan Gosling’s bed, they were like: ‘Right – get on that plane!’ I guess that is pretty weird to hear.”

The 24-year-old actress also spoke to the magazine about her wardrobe for Gangster Squad. The film is set in 1940′s LA, and Emma is decked out in glamorous Mary Zophres costumes. “Some of the dresses were genuine 1940′s – they just retailored them,” Emma told Glamour. “Oh, and I fit a period -seven shoe, which is always a good bit of knowledge to have.”

Gangster Squad is released on Jan 10th (UK) and Jan 11th (US). The LA premiere took place last night – Emma wore Lanvin and Ryan somehow managed to make a brown suit look good. Emma Stone on Sex Scenes with Ryan Gosling

“I was almost sexing Ryan Gosling in Crazy, Stupid, Love… We almost have sex, but we do not have sex. Although there’s one in the future, again with Ryan, where we’ve had sex, but it’s right after, so it’s never really like we do it in the end.” – Emma Stone tells Vogue UK

Taking Style Pointers From Ryan Gosling

Everyone has a crush on Ryan Gosling at the moment, myself included. So whilst this post is a little random I feel it will make many of you happy – especially Stevie from Discotheque Confusion, who has an amazing Gosling story, which I’m sure she’ll share with you if you ask nicely.

Anyway, I was browsing through the Topshop sale this morning when I stumbled across these suede slippers, which have been reduced to £25. A normal person would simply think nice shoes and move on. I am not a normal person. I’m a person who spends far too much time watching American chat shows on Youtube, so my immediate reaction was, those look like the shoes Ryan Gosling wore on the Jimmy Fallon show. You know, the time he fed an apple to his dog and made everyone fall in love with him? In fact, he wears the slipper shoe all the time. Google him and you’ll see.

Topshop currently have a massive selection of Gosling-eqsue slippers. The smartest way to wear them is to simply switch them with your ballet flats and pair with skinny jeans etc. But you don’t want to go too far into the androgynous look with them. Here’s the simple slipper-wearing formula:
How to Wear Slippers: Zebra slippers, from Topshop; Boy. by Band of Outsiders jacket, from Net-A-Porter; Knit jumper dress from Topshop.

Are you a fan of slipper shoes? How will you be wearing them this fall?

Ryan Gosling: The Unexpected Cover Star

I’ve always liked Ryan Gosling but I’ve never developed a crush on him. Obviously it’s hard not to fall in love with him in The Notebook, but I was really into the off-screen Ryan and Rachel romance. The McGoslings were the best celebrity couple ever, narrowly beating the wonder that was once Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson.
So back to the point, I’ve never crushed on Ryan Gosling. Until now. In the space of about three months he’s landed two huge covers. He covered W’s October issue with co-star Michelle Williams and now has a solo Interview cover. Me likey!

Interview November 2010 by Mikael Jansson

W Ocotber 2010 by Inez & Vinoodh

Now the tough part comes in: which cover do you prefer? Interview or W?
And while we’re on the subject of the October issue of W can I just say that the cover promises Jake and Anne, and there was like the smallest ever feature on them. So sad!

So, are you more into Ryan’s Interview cover or his W debut?
