The Cannes Film Festival Jewellery Highlights so Far

Cannes Film Festival Jewellery

The Cannes Film Festival is the place to go if you want to spot the world’s finest jewellery. But this year many stars are keeping the bling to a minmun, often sticking to just one statement accessory at a time. Emma Watson chose a single delicate earcuff for her red carpet appearance; and although Nicole Kidman has worn two strapless gowns, she’s resisted the temptation to add a statement necklace on both occasions, favouring subtle earrings instead. That’s not to say there hasn’t been an impressive array of baubles on display, however…

Cara Delevingne wore diamond Chopard jewellery to The Great Gatsby premiere, last week. Her chandelier earrings and chocker necklace were teamed with a fabulous floral cocktail ring, which maximised the impact. Jessica Biel also went for a bold look on the red carpet, wearing a Bulgari diamond and emerald serpent necklace to the Inside Llewyn Davis premiere. And Zoe Saldana paired her Valentino dress with a timeless (yet dramatic) pair of David Yurman pearl earrings.

Emma Watson Takes the Punk Theme to the Cannes Film Festival

Emma Watson Cannes Film Festival Earring Punk

Anna Wintour would be proud… The Met Gala took place over 10 days ago, and Emma Watson still appears to be in the punk mindset. Last night Emma made her Cannes Film Festival red carpet debut, at the premiere of The Bling Ring. The 23-year-old actress chose an ivory and black Chanel couture design for the occasion, and accessorised with a punk-lite delicate earcuff. I love the fact she kept her look elegant and low-key, sticking to one single accessory. It’s perhaps the best she’s ever looked, don’t you agree?

If you’ve been inspired by Emma Watson’s punk-lite earring you can find similar earcuffs at ASOS (£6), Maria Francesca Pepe (£30) and Repossi (£3,477). Wear them as Emma does, with chic, minimalistic styles for an effortlessly cool look.

Attending the BAFTA Television Awards with M.A.C Cosmetics

Television BAFTAS MAC Cosmetics

On Sunday evening I had the pleasure of attending the Television Bafta Awards with M.A.C Cosmetics. As the official makeup partner for the awards, M.A.C were stationed in the Bafta Style Suite at the Corinthia Hotel all day, preparing nominees and guests for the red carpet. I arrived at the hotel just after 2pm and headed straight into makeup with a M.A.C artist. As I was planning to wear a simple black dress by Vivienne Westwood Anglomania, we decided to go for a strong, smokey eye and a glossy pink lip.

Charlie from the M.A.C team first applied all of my eye makeup, which seemed strange as I’m used to starting with foundation, concealer and blush. But she explained it would stop pigments of eyeshadow dropping all over my done-up face – a simple trick I’ll be copying from now on. I should have written down a list of all the products and colours Charlie used during my appointment, but we were far too busy gossiping about her new chihuahua puppy, so now I’m afraid I have nothing much to report back. But if you’re based in Cardiff make sure you visit Charlie at the M.A.C counter in Debenhams, she’ll be able to solve all your makeup dilemas!

Once my makeover was complete I headed to the Mark Hill pop-up salon to get my hair styled. I then made my way to the M.A.C hotel suite to get ready with their other guests – Lily from What I Heart Today, Zara from Mouldy Fruit and Milly from Peals and Poodles. As we all left for the awards we saw Matt LeBlanc outside the Corinthia, which was easily the best celeb spot of the entire night. You can’t get more famous than Joey from Friends!

Graham Norton hosted the Bafta Television Awards, this year, so it was a fun night despite the fact I had no idea who anyone was. I don’t watch much British TV, so I was most excited when Girls picked up the International award. Sadly Lena Dunham and the rest of the cast didn’t attend the ceremony though, as they’re busy filming season three. We should have accepted on their behalf, I think…

After the awards ceremony we slipped out for a quick dinner at Balthazar in Covent Garden, before returning to the Royal Festival Hall for the after party. Spencer and Jamie from Made in Chelsea spent the night strutting around like royalty – I guess that’s what a Bafta win does to you!

Thank you M.A.C for a fabulous and unforgettable evening. It was super-glam, despite the rain and soggy red carpet…

Sienna Miller is a Burberry Prorsum Punk Princess at the Met Gala

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last 24 hours, you’ll know that the 2013 Met Gala took place in New York, last night, and that the theme this year was Punk: Chaos to Couture. Guests at the annual red carpet event rarely stick to the dress code, so I was excited to see how they approached the slightly daunting punk theme. I knew that whoever ended up wearing Burberry Prorsum would be safe, however, as Christopher Bailey works well with stud detailing. And Burberry’s guests – Sienna Miller and Cara Delevinge – did indeed look gorgeous on the red carpet.

Sienna Miller Met Gala Burberry

Sienna Miller chose an open-back crêpe dress and a studded biker jacket for the occasion. She accessorised her look with silver hoop earrings and a spike-y headband, which she used to fasten her hair to the side, so it looked like she had an undercut. It’s one of my favourite hairstyles from the night, and you can recreate the look at home with this crystal and spike tiara from ASOS (£12). Follow Sienna’s lead and wear it with undone hair and a slick of kohl eyeliner.

And, rumour has it Sienna Miller and her fiancé, Tom Sturridge, will appear in the Fall 2013 Burberry ad campaign. So you may be seeing the 31-year-old actress in Burberry more often. After this red carpet appearance I hope the whispers are true!

Do you like Sienna Miller’s punk-y Met Gala look? Who did crown the best dressed, last night? Share your thoughts in the comments section. I love a good red carpet gossip session!

What Should Emma Watson Wear to the Cannes Film Festival?

Sofia Coppola’s much anticipated movie, The Bling Ring, will open the Un Certain Regard section at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Which means her latest leading-lady, Emma Watson, will be in attendance. Woo! The 23-year-old actress has kept a fairly low profile since The Perks of Being a Wallflower was released, last year, so I’m looking forward to her red carpet return. Emma will need a showstopping couture gown for The Bling Ring premiere, and a few summery looks for photocalls and interviews. Here are four Spring/Summer 2013 designs that I’d like to see her rocking in Cannes…

Emma’s new movie, The Bling Ring, is released this summer. It’s about a group of teenagers in LA who track celebrities online and then rob their homes while they’re out of town. It may sound crazy but it’s based on a true story! Megan Fox, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, Audrina Patridge and Rachel Bilson were all targeted in the 2009 burglaries. Take a look at the trailer to see Emma Watson in action as one of the Bling Ring teens, Nicki…

It will be interesting to see Emma Watson in a very un-Hermione role, and from the look of the trailer she plays the spoilt Valley Girl very well. Also, I’m pretty sure that actually is Paris Hilton’s LA home, and that she does indeed have her face printed on cushions. Seriously strange…

Are you excited about Sofia Coppola’s new movie, The Bling Ring? What would you like to see Emma Watson wearing on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet? Let me know…
