Elizabeth and James’ Pre Fall 2013 Layering Masterclass

I’m terrible at layering. Really, really awful. This wouldn’t be a problem if I lived somewhere warm and could just wear a statement dress every day, but in the UK you have to come up with imaginative layering ideas for at least 7 months of the year. Not fun! So I’m very excited about Elizabeth and James‘ Pre Fall 2013 lookbook, which fuses designs together in a cool and original way. The styling isn’t hard to copy, as most of the looks are built around two wardrobe staples: the T-shirt and white shirt. Take a look at Elizabeth and James’ easy dressing formulas and let the layering commence…

I how ’90s the T-shirt and slip dress look, when worn together, so I’ll give that style a go. And I’ll definitely be first in line for the cute wrap-around skirts, once this collection hits stores! Do you like the Elizabeth and James Pre collection?

Clothes I Want To Wear: Roksanda Ilincic Pre Fall 2013

Roksanda Ilincic’s Pre Fall 2013 collection is so playful and fun. I love the dramatically oversized proportions, the colour palette bursting with acidic brights and those funny little mortar board hats. On paper the collection sounds totally crazy, but somehow it comes together perfectly, creating a line-up of looks I’d be happy to wear. Take a look at my favourites:

Roksanda Ilincic is one London’s brightest fashion talents, and I’d love to see one (or more) of her designs on the red carpet at the BAFTAs on February 10th. Jessica Chastain would be my ideal choice, but I wouldn’t complain if Elizabeth Olsen (nominated for the Rising Star Award), Anne Hathway or Andrea Riseborough had a Roksanda moment.

Boy/Girl Dressing at Moschino Cheap And Chic Pre Fall 2013

I like the Moschino Cheap And Chic Pre Fall 2013 collection. I like it a lot. And mostly because it reminds me of Ginnifer Goodwin, who is deeply stylish (and so underrated). The collection has a playful girls-who-dress-like-boys feel to it: think buttoned-up shirts, oversized coats, trouser braces and chunky leather flats paired with ankle socks. Modelled by Amra Cerkezovic (who happens to have a Ginnifer-esque pixie crop) the Pre Fall line-up looks very, very cool. Take a look:

Naturally I’d like to see Ginnifer Goodwin rocking this collection, and I also think it would appeal to Alexa Chung, Chloë Moretz and possibly even Kristen Stewart. Hopefully it will get some red carpet action in the coming months…

Clothes I Want to Wear: Carolina Herrera Pre Fall 2013

Carolina Herrera is one of those designers I respect greatly but admire from afar. In fact, this is the first time I’ve featured Mrs Herrera’s designs on Coco’s Tea Party. The reason is simple: I’ve never been able to picture myself wearing her ultra grown-up, incredibly elegant designs. The Carolina Herrera woman is a Charlotte York Goldenblatt type – and I aim to be more Carrie Bradshaw. But that said, the Pre Fall 2013 collection is one of my favourites from the season so far. The polished, knee-length shift dresses feel so right for the moment, and I’m hoping to see the printed floral gown [below] on the red carpet very soon…

It’s also worth looking out for the CH Carolina Herrera footwear collection. The prices are fairly reasonable for designer shoes (around £250-£350) and have a sophisticated Manolo Blahnik vibe. Unfortunately the collection isn’t available online, but you can view the current designs on carolinaherrera.com.

Temperley London’s Glamorous Pre Fall 2013 Collection

Believe it or not we’re now in Pre Fall 2013 season (crazy, I know!) and Temperley London is the latest label to release their collection. This season Alice was inspired by fashion photographer Horst P. Horst, who started his career in the 1930′s. This influence can clearly be found in the elegant, bias cut, evening gowns and the feminine colour palette — think pale pinks, gold, oyster, navy blue and teal. It has classic Hollywood Glamour written all over it, and I’m hoping the collection will be a modern-day red carpet hit!

It wouldn’t surprise me if the Duchess of Cambridge turns to this collection for public events, whilst she’s expecting. The body-skimming, A-line shapes are perfect options for Royal baby bumps.
