Hitchcock’s Leading Lady Inspires Temperley London AW13

Temperley London AW13

The last time I visited The Dorchester, in Mayfair, it was to interview Kourtney and Kim Kardashian. Back then there was a sea of paparazzi camped outside the hotel. And for the Temperley London AW13 show it was a similar scene – except the street style photographers were snapping away, this time.

Alice Temperley presented her Fall 2013 collection on the third day of London Fashion Week, and it was easily the most elegant and sophisticated show on the schedule. Inspiration came from Alfred Hitchcock’s muse, Tipi Hedren, which is particularly timely, as the recent release of Hitchcock has put the iconic director’s leading ladies back in the spotlight.

These backstage images – photographed by Alice’s sister, Matilda – show the collection’s strongest looks. Highlights include an ivory swing coat, worn with a classic black cashmere jumper and movie star sunglasses; a cap-sleeve ivory mini dress with crystal studding; and a pair of wide-leg checked trousers. And with any luck we’ll soon see these designs on the leading ladies of today!

Olivia Palermo sat on the front row, alongside Alice Eve (of Sex and the City 2 fame) and models, Anouck Lepere and Jacquetta Wheeler. Pixie Lott and Peaches Geldof were also in attendance – all wearing Temperley London, of course.

Kate Bosworth and Olivia Palermo Sit Front Row at Topshop Unique Fall 2013

The Topshop Unique AW13 front row was the place to been seen a London Fashion Week, this season. The celebrity guest list included Kate Bosworth, Olivia Palermo, One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson, Demi Lovato and Delilah. Plus – chic to the next level – P’Trique made her LFW debut. Obviously the hottest looks belonged to Kate, Olivia and Daisy Lowe. All three ladies wore Topshop, with Olivia adding a bit of Tibi into the mix. Which front row outfit is your favourite?

I like Daisy’s checked suit the best. You can find the trousers, £35, online here, and the jacket, £55, here. It’s a fabulous way to tap into the season’s monochrome trend without spending more than £100.

Anyway, enough about the front row, because the Topshop Unique Autumn/Winter 2013 collection is the real newsworthy item here. Ex-British Vogue editor, Kate Phelan, is continuing to lead the high street retailer down a stylish path, and this was possibly Unique’s strongest collection to date. The designs were wearable, but still trend-focused. If you buy one thing from this collection make sure it’s the sequined, midi length, pale pink skirt. It’s screams of Carrie Bradshaw.

The other looks worth investing in are the glossy red raincoat [below] and the oversized pink coat [above]. Note how big the pockets are – you won’t need to bother with a handbag if you’re wearing this! I’m also obsessed with the chunky, multi-strap heels. They look like they’d be easy to walk in, as well, which is always an added bonus.

Once the Unique show had finished, Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn celebrated backstage by performing the Harlem Shake. If you missed the hilarious video earlier in the week you can watch it here. I guarantee it will bring a smile to your face! Do you like Topshop Unique’s offerings for Autumn/Winter 2013? Which looks are your favourites?

The Burberry Front Row AW13: What Rosie, Olivia and Kate Wore

Burberry Front Row 2013 Kate Beckinsale

The Burberry front row was packed with celebrities, this afternoon, when the brand presented their Autumn/Winter 2013 collection at London Fashion Week. British actress, Kate Beckinsale, flew in from LA for the occasion and had a long chat with Les Misérables director, Tom Hooper, before the show began. Kate is known for looking super groomed at all times, but I think Rosie Huntington-Whiteley actually out-glossed her at this event. And that takes some serious skill…

Dressed in a statement red Burberry suit, Rosie looked absolutely stunning as she watched fellow Brit models Jourdan Dunn and Cara Delevingne strut their stuff on the runway. She sat beside Freida Pinto and Rita Ora, with Olivia Palermo a few seats down. I’m pretty sure Kate, Rosie and Olivia aren’t allowed to sit together, as the universe might implode if their polished-to-perfection bodies come into close contact.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be a Buberry front row without some cool music stars. Tinie Tempah looked great his classic Burberry trench coat and Tom Odell treated guests to a surprise performance, for the finale. I was told to expect a big surprise at the end of the show (Romeo Beckham was my first thought) and Tom’s appearance was really special.

The Burberry front row is always exciting, but this season everyone’s eyes were firmly glued to the runway, once the show began. The Autumn/Winter 2013 collection was absolutely breathtaking, so look out for my second Burberry post, which will be coming soon.

The Front Row at Mulberry’s Spring/Summer 2013 Show

We’re literally going from one celeb-packed front row to another here… This morning Mulberry showed their Spring/Summer 2013 collection inside the Ballroom at Claridge’s hotel, and their front row was bursting with famous faces. There were British style icons (Kate Moss), national treasures (olympian, Jessica Ennis), Mulberry pin-ups (Alexa Chung and Lana Del Rey), and some front row regulars (Olivia Palermo). Check out all of their front row outfits right here…

Kate and Alexa – I’m guessing they were laughing at the poodle who walked the runway
I’m struggling to pick a favourite outfit, so I’m going to break it down into sections: Alexa had the best hair, Olivia the coolest knit, Kate’s Mulberry Willow bag (it’s the new style for SS13) was a winner, and Alexa also wore the prettiest shoes. See more pictures after the jump…

The Front Row at Burberry Prorsum Spring 2013

It’s usually fairly easy to predict the front row at Burberry Prorsum shows, but this season the celebrity faces were a big surprise. Dita von Teese sat with Harry Styles (I wonder if she’s a One Direction fan…) and Olivia Palermo was seated next to model Suki Waterhouse and The Kills’ Allison Mosshart. Take a look at all of the Burberry guests and their fabulous outfits:
Dita von Teese came prepared for the London weather with her Burberry umbrella
Roo Panes, Allison Mosshart, Miles Kane, Suki Waterhouse and Olivia Palermo
Aaron Paul, Dita von Teese and Harry Styles
Dita von Teese was easily my best dressed. I wouldn’t normally imagine her in Burberry, but she successfully put her own spin on the AW12 design. See more images after the jump….

Vote for Your Favourite UK October 2012 Cover

All of the big glossy covers for October 2012 have dropped in the UK. Gwen Stefani fronts the new issue of ELLE wearing a Peter Pilotto and McQ mash-up, Emma Watson looks beautiful on Glamour’s cover, Olivia Palermo rocks Christian Dior florals for InStyle, Cat Deeley played a game of tennis for Tatler, Harper’s Bazaar photographed Joan Smalls and Laetitia Casta and Vogue got an exclusive with Kristen Stewart. It’s a pretty fabulous selection, I must say…

I’ve narrowed the selection down to the four big celebrity shoots, as I’m keen to know which October cover is your favourite. I have a sneaking suspicion Emma Watson might win, but perhaps the Twilight fans will come together and give the title to Kristen Stewart. Get voting!

Which is your favourite October 2012 UK cover?
Which cover got your vote? Have you been pleased with the selection of UK October covers?
