Kate Hudson Wears a Tiffany Blue Reem Acra Dress

Tiffany & Co hosted a 1920′s-inspired event in New York, last night, to celebrate the launch of the Blue Book Collection. The Blue Book Ball took place inside a 31-foot-high Tiffany Blue Box which was built on the Rockefeller Center ice rink. Kate Hudson was one of the many A-list guests to attend the event and was perfectly dressed for the occasion, rocking a Tiffany-blue Reem Acra dress and $256,195 worth of Tiffany & Co jewellery. Doesn’t she look absolutely stunning?

I now want to copy Kate Hudson and have my own Tiffany-blue moment. I’ve struggled to find the iconic colour on the high street, but both Miu Miu and Richard Nicoll used the shade for Spring/Summer 2013. And with the upcoming release of The Great Gatsby – which is exclusively decked out with Tiffany & Co designs – I wouldn’t be surprised if by SS14 we’re seeing Tiffany-blue in every key collection. Bring it on, I say….

FYI: You can find more red carpet images from the Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Ball on the CTP Facebook page.

7 Things To Do This Weekend: The Denim and Sneakers Edition

The weekend is in sight, and it’s not just any weekend – it’s my birthday weekend! I plan to celebrate with Solange’s EP True on repeat (it makes me feel like the sun is shining, even when it’s not) and a lot of chocolate cake. Here are seven fun things to do this weekend. Try and fit them all in if you don’t already have plans… Enjoy!

7 Things To Do This Weekend: Floral Ice Cubes

1. Listen to Solange Knowles’ True on repeat… It’s a challenge not to feel completely miserable in this weather, but Solange’s latest album, True, definitely helps keep the spirits high. Slip on a pair of your favourite heels, hit the ‘repeat’ button and don’t look out the window, whatever you do. It will kill your buzz! If you haven’t already downloaded the EP you can listen for free online HERE.

2. Paint your nails in rainbow shades… The skies may be grey, but your manicure should still reflect the season. I’m currently wearing an electric blue nail polish by Leighton Denny, but am tempted to go for a pretty rainbow mani over the weekend. Go for pastels, jewel tones of brights – it really doesn’t matter, as long as it’s colourful!

3. Watch the latest Great Gatsby Trailer… The Great Gatsby premieres at the Cannes Film Festival, next month, and yesterday a new trailer was released. Originally I wasn’t really feeling Carey Mulligan in the role of Daisy Buchanan, but the latest ad looks AMAZING, and I now can’t wait to see the movie. The soundtrack is sounding brilliant too, featuring Florence and the Machine, Lana Del Rey, and Beyonce and Andre 3000′s version of ‘Back to Black‘. Watch it now:

4. Make floral ice cubes… If you’re entertaining friends this weekend why not jazz up your drinks with pretty floral ice cubes? They require little skill to make – just be careful which flowers you use. According to Martha Stewart, “use only edible flowers, such as orchids, nasturtiums, pansies, and snapdragons, that have been grown to be eaten (to ensure they haven’t been treated with chemicals).”

5. Spend an afternoon with Kate Hudson… ELLE UK’s May 2013 issue is on newsstands now, and I can’t wait to read Kate Hudson’s exclusive interview. Kate always comes across well in profiles, never complaining/whinging about fame and the paparazzi; and after seeing her at the ELLE Style Awards I’ve officially concluded she’s the coolest woman on the planet. I can’t wait to dig into the ten-page feature…

6. Visit Matches’ Denim Boutique… Matches has gone denim mad this week, dedicating their latest issue of The Style Report to the season’s hottest denim looks. If you’re looking for a stylish new pair of jeans make sure you check out their edit which includes everything from the reinvented boyfriend jean to the distressed skinny. The Lulu & Co vintage Levis are my personal favourites – make sure you check them out!

7. Buy a pair of animal print trainers… Put a spring in your step, this weekend, with a pair of animal print sneakers. The hot pair to own are the Kenzo x Vans pumps (available from Opening Ceremony), but for less than £40 you can’t go wrong with Topshop’s leopard print trainers. You can wear them with almost anything, they’re that cool!

Inside the 2013 ELLE Style Awards with Next

Last night the 2013 ELLE Style Awards took place at the Savoy hotel, in London. There was a great celebrity turn-out, as many Hollywood insiders extended their trip to the city after the BAFTAs. I was lucky enough to attend the awards with the official sponsor, Next, and was seated right in the middle of the action. Kate Hudson and Stella McCartney were catching up on the table to my left, Chloë Grace Moretz was working the room in an on-trend monochrome dress, and all eyes were glued to Bradley Cooper, who took home the award for Best Actor. It was a truly unforgettable evening and I’ll do my best to share all the gossip with you. Read on to find out what happened inside the 2013 ELLE Style Awards…

Before the awards were handed out we sat down to a delicious three-course dinner in the stunning Savoy ballroom. The menu featured black sesame maki rolls, followed by charred corn fed chicken and an amazing Oero vanilla cheesecake. Once the champagne was flowing and everyone had overdosed on cheesecake, Radio One’s Nick Grimshaw took to the stage. It was his first year as the ELLE Style Awards host, and he did a fantastic job. He was brave enough to joke around with movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, angered a supermodel and hilariously stated it was a momentous evening as the absent Best Music Act, Emeli Sandé, had turned down an invitation for the “first time ever”.

2013 elle style awards

The night’s big awards went to Chloë Moretz (who won Next’s Future Icon), Christopher Kane (Best British Designer of the Year) and Roksanda Ilincic (Red Carpet Fashion). When Chloë accepted her award she thanked all the designers that regularly loan her dresses, revealing when she first came to attention in Kick Ass she could barely convince anyone to lend her a shirt.

At the end of the night I think most guests went home with a crush on Chris O’Dowd (who is really hot in person, photos do not do him justice) and an even bigger girl-crush on Kate Hudson. But without a doubt, the night belonged to Les Misérables actress, Samantha Barks, who dazzled the room with a surprise performance. She’s definitely on the path to A-list status, and she also happens to rock a LBD like a pro….

A big thank you goes out to the Next team. It was a fantastic evening and a great way to get in the mood for LFW.  Were you impressed with the looks on show at the ELLE Style Awards? Who was your best dressed guest?

Harry Winston Recreate the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days ‘Isadora Diamond’ for Hollywood Costume at the V&A Museum

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is one of my favourite movies (you can’t beat a Kate Hudson classic) and the highlight of the film is obviously the scene involving the “Isadora Diamond“. The Harry Winston necklace perfectly complimented the iconic yellow gown worn by Kate Hudson in the scene, as costume designer Karen Patch reportedly designed the satin dress after spotting the yellow sapphire. The bias-cut design will be displayed in the upcoming Hollywood Costume exhibition at the V&A, and the Harry Winston team have lovingly recreated the diamond cluster necklace to sit alongside the beautiful dress.

The Harry Winston necklace will be the only piece of jewellery on display in the entire exhibition, so it’s very exciting. How often do you get to see a 51.94 carat yellow sapphire drop pendant up close? Make sure you start planning your visit to the V&A now. The Hollywood Costume exhibition opens on October 20th and runs until January 27th 2013. Trust me, you do not want to miss this one…

Do you love the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days fashion moment? Are you excited to see the costume on display at the V&A museum? Have you already started planning your visit?

Fashion Flashback: Kate Hudson Covers the September Issue of US Vogue

Did you know that Kate Hudson once covered the September issue of US Vogue? Because I didn’t. I only discovered the gorgeous cover and accompanying editorial as someone uploaded it onto The Fashion Spot, yesterday afternoon. Kate was photographed by Herb Ritts in 2002, and the interview took place on the set of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. I still love that film!
This easily one of Kate Hudson’s strongest covers, if not her absolute greatest. Herb Ritts was a genius! If you also missed out on this issue first time around you can relive the magic here…

Kate Hudson Covers Harper’s Bazaar US, October 2012

Kate Hudson covers the October 2012 issue of Harper’s Bazaar US, modelling a black Ralph Lauren dress. With Kate Hudson the only accessory you ever need is a winning Hollywood smile (she has one of the best in the business), so Harper’s kept it simple, and didn’t overload the cover with jewellery. I like the image a lot – it’s simple, clean and Kate looks incredible!
Some of Kate’s best editorials to date have been for Harper’s Bazaar US, so I can’t wait to get my hands on the new issue. Camilla Åkrans photographed the 33-year-old actress in the latest couture collections. How could that be anything but brilliant?
Are you a fan of Kate Hudson’s latest Harper’s Bazaar US cover? Will you buy the new issue?
