Must See: Cara Delevingne & Jourdan Dunn’s Hilarious Harlem Shake Video

Cara Jourdan Harlem Shake video

Have you ever wondered what models get up to backstage at fashion shows? There’s tons of waiting around in hair and makeup, giving them time to read a book, play Angry Birds or maybe take a power nap. That’s not how Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn roll though. Backstage at the Topshop Unique Autumn/Winter 2013 show Cara and Jourdan performed the Harlem Shake. Yep, dressed in their runway looks they messed about with Rosie Tapner, letting their hair down and dancing like group of girlfriends on a night out. Watch their Harlem Shake video below:

The video has gone viral, and has already received over 23,000 hits on YouTube. I’ve watched the Kate Upton Dougie video, and that almost sent me to sleep, but Cara and Jourdan’s Harlem Shake is really entertaining. And, if anything, it proves Topshop Unique’s latest collection is easy to move in. No one likes to feel constricted by their clothing, and this video shows that won’t be a problem come Autumn/Winter 2013!

Now I’m just wondering whether Jourdan and Cara’s Harlem Shake is a regular occurrence. Perhaps they perform the routine together at every show they walk in…

Anna Wintour & Jourdan Dunn Are Golden Girls at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards

Last night Burberry co-hosted the 2012 Evening Standard Theatre Awards, held at the Savoy hotel in London. There were some serious high fashion looks on display (check out Ruth Wilson in Dior couture) and both Anna Wintour and Jourdan Dunn chose to mark the occasion with golden gowns. The Vogue editor chose a full-length sequin design, which she accessorised with a fur cover-up, whilst the 22-year-old Brit model rocked a strapless Burberry Prorsum dress with contrasting black accessories.
The event was also attended by Cara Delevingne, Gemma Arterton, Felicity Jones and Tinie Tempah… You can find all the pictures from the awards on the Coco’s Tea Party Facebook page.

The Met Gala Red Carpet Gets Illustrated on Twitter

You’ve got to love the wonders of social media and the online fashion community. Last night I was getting ready to watch the Met Gala red carpet live stream (sleepily sitting in my PJs, as it was 11.30pm London time) when I received a tweet from illustrator @miss_magpie_spy saying, “I’m going to be live illustrating from your tweets…so please don’t fall asleep!” Now I know all about live tweeting and live streaming, but live illustrating? That was new to me.
True to her word Miss Magpie tweeted beautiful illustrations of my Met Gala images minutes after I posted them. And she’s still going. Follow her on Twitter to see all her Met drawings.
I honestly think this is the coolest thing ever. Such an original idea and a great way to put a fresh spin on fashion illustration. Are you a fan of Miss Magpie‘s Met Gala illustrations?

The Met Gala 2012: How The Guests Get Ready

Tonight is the night. The celebrities, models, editors, socialites, stylists, designers, makeup artists and hairstylists are all in New York City for the annual Costume Institute Gala, held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Celebrations for the Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibition will kick off with a two-hour red carpet event which is not to be missed (quite literally, as it’s being live streamed on Amazon.com). So how does one get ready for the Met Gala? The lucky invitees have been sharing all on Twitter this afternoon…
Designer Prabal Gurung is one of the first to be ready. “Ok here we go all set for #metgala” he shared.
Coco Rocha, who will wear a vintage Givenchy number previously owned by Elizabeth Taylor, gets ready at her NYC home, keeping her invite close…
Brit models Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn get ready together. They’ll both wear Burberry designs.
Charlotte Olympia designer Charlotte Dellal writes on Twitter “DIY hair, now on to the make up”

More From the 2011 Met Gala

I’ve just got back from New York and while I try to readjust to the time, catch up with my email and get back on top of blogging I’ve taken another look at the Met Gala. A few days without decent wifi connection and the flight from NY to London mean I’ve only just seen Florence Welch’s red carpet look. She is now up there in my best dressed list. And Stefano looks pretty sharp too, no?

Jay-Z was also working a white tux jacket, and I’d say he was easily the Met Gala’s best dressed male. As always, Givenchy was one of my favourite labels on the red carpet. I loved Liv Tyler in  the S/S 2011 Haute Couture dress. The burst of lemon yellow makes a great statement and her natural makeup complements the look.

Jourdan Dunn arrives at the Met in a Burberry dress

British models Jourdan Dunn and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wore Burberry dresses on the red carpet. I adore that shade of orange on Jourdan and I’m impressed by the amount of skin Rosie managed to show off – shoulders, breast and leg – without looking trashy. A little Blake Lively, don’t you think?

Crystal Renn went for a bit more drama, however, and opted for a black Zac Posen dress. I’ve seen quite a few publications hate on this look but I quite like it. If you can’t wear this to the Met Gala than where can you wear it?

I was also lucky enough to check out the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition before I got my flight home, so look out for a post on the actual exhibition itself.

Girl Crush of the Week: Jourdan Dunn

Jordan Dunn is one of my favourites. She’s great in editorials (have you seen “The Life Rhapsodic” yet?) and is one of the few models that – for me, at least – creates a real buzz when she walks the runway. This week the British model caught my eye as she attended Burberry’s largest ever event, which celebrated the opening of the new Burberry Beijing store. In true Burberry fashion it was live streamed, and you can still check it out on Disneyrollergirl. Jourdan rocked up in a orange mini from the A/W collection. Like all great models she looks like she made no effort, but is still achingly gorgeous. Very worthy of a girl crush…
