A Fashionista’s Afternoon Tea at the Berkeley Hotel with STYLIGHT

Over the weekend the STYLIGHT team made a quick visit to London to host a chic afternoon tea at the Berkeley hotel. The shopping/mood board creating website recently launched in the UK, so a celebration was definitely in order. And the Fashionista’s Afternoon Tea at the Berkeley was the perfect setting! The traditional English tea was given a fashionable twist, with cakes and biscuits inspired by the Autumn/Winter 2012 collections. Yves Saint Laurent’s “Cabas Chyc” bag was turned into a Victoria Sponge, Marc Jacobs’ double-breasted pink jacket was transformed into a chocolate biscuit and Manolo Blahnik’s polka dot pumps were fashioned into a tasty light mousse. Take a look at the photos:

Staying at the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London

My kind of welcome!

Back in September – just before London Fashion Week – I spent a night at the St. Pancras Renaissance hotel in London, ahead of the My-Wardrobe fashion blogger shoot. Stupidly I forgot to take my SLR with me, so didn’t get any good shots of the spectacular suite. And after months of deliberating I’ve decided to go ahead and publish my iPhone pictures – apologies for the poor quality, but some things are just too good not to share…

My blogging station for the duration of my stay…

The St. Pancras Renaissance originally opened in 1873 and was re-opened in 2011, after a £150 million renovation. Suites have been given a modern update, but still hold an elegant, timeless glamour. You’ll probably recognise certain areas of the hotel, as it’s appeared in a long list of movies – from Batman Begins to Bridget Jones’ Diary – and the Grand Staircase was the setting for the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe” video. Find more images from my stay after the jump…

Check out the high ceilings…

I wanted to take this mirror home with me!

A "Very Valentino" Evening at One Aldwych in London

Valentino: Master of Couture opened at Somerset House, last week, and neighbouring 5-star hotel, One Aldwych, are celebrating the iconic Italian designer with the launch of the “Very Valentino” experience. They’ve created two fabulous packages which fashion fanatics will love – an overnight stay for two at One Aldwych, including breakfast and tickets to the exhibition; or a chic afternoon tea option, which includes Very Valentino cocktails in the Lobby Bar, plus exhibition tickets.

On Monday evening I headed to One Aldwych to celebrate the Very Valentino launch. I got to sample the cocktail – which includes strawberry caviar – and enjoy a screening of Valentino: The Last Emperor. The documentary is one of my favourite fashion films and, despite owning it on DVD already, it was great to watch it in One Aldwych’s private screening room with popcorn and cocktails. If you haven’t seen the film already I recommend you add the DVD to your Christmas list now. Here’s a sneak preview…

The Very Valentino experience runs at One Aldwych from now until March 3rd 2013. Prices from £390 for the evening stay for two, and from £55 per person for the afternoon tea. Both include exhibition tickets.
Valentino: Master of Couture is open now at Somerset House until March the 3rd 2013. Tickets £12.50.
Do you plan to visit Valentino: Master of Couture? Are you a fan of Valentino: The Last Emperor?

Staying at Hotel Bel Ami in Paris {CTP Travel}

My trip to Paris for the Princesse Tam Tam pyjama party was fleeting, but luckily I stayed overnight at the Bel Ami hotel, which was located just around the corner from Ladurée. It would be a crime to visit the city and not stock up on sweet treats from Ladurée, after all… The Bel Ami (in Saint Germain) is a luxury boutique hotel and was perfect for our 24-hour trip. The staff were all friendly, the rooms were very comfortable (a little noisy too, but that’s “a Paris thing”) and there was free WiFi. Take a look at my pics:
My room at the Bel Ami. Rather dark and quite noisy but so so comfy. The best hotel pillows ever!
I love a carb-heavy breakfast

Any hotel room that comes with salted caramel chocolate is good with me
Look what was just around the corner… Laduree!
Heaven!

Staying at the Bayerischer Hof Hotel in Munich {CTP Travel}

The view from the top floor at the Bayerischer Hof hotel in Munich

The STYLIGHT bloggers event took place on a snowy Munich weekend, which meant when we weren’t busy at the photoshoot we spent a lot of time at the Bayerischer Hof hotel. This wasn’t a problem for me, as I hate the snow and love five star hotels! The Bayerischer Hof was cosy, comfortable and – over that particular weekend – filled with international fashion bloggers to hang out with. I teamed up with Abi Marvel, COTTDS and Fashionnerdic for an impromptu hotel room photoshoot to avoid the cold…

With Ilanka from Fashionnerdic and Cindy from COTTDS. I’m wearing a Mango knit (shop here)

The Bayerischer Hof was a great place to stay – and the only fault I could find with the hotel was the fact they charged €27 a day for wifi (and an extra €9 a day to connect your iPhone). That’s a crazy amount to charge for something Starbucks gives away for free – especially as the connection wasn’t that great…

See photos of my hotel room and more pictures from our stuck-inside-because-of-the-snow shoot after the jump.

Staying at the Mondrian SoHo Hotel in New York {CTP Travel}

The view from my room at the SoHo Mondrian
As you know, last week I was in New York for H&M’s Maison Martin Margiela celebration, and I had the pleasure of staying at the Mondrian hotel in SoHo. SoHo is probably my favourite neighbourhood in Manhattan (it’s great for shopping), but on previous visits to the city I’ve always stayed uptown, so it was fun to have more time to explore the area properly. The Mondrian hotel is in the perfect location – just off Broadway and right around the corner from Opening Ceremony and Jil Sander. Alexander Wang, J.Crew, Kate Spade, Dash and Bloomingdales SoHo are also just a short walk from the hotel.
The rooms are decorated in a clean blue and white colour palette
The Mondrian, which is part of the Morgans Hotel Group, was a really fun place to say, with a cool party atmosphere (the lobby and reception area are on the second floor, so the moment you arrive you’re at the bar on the entrance level). The rooms all come with complimentary iPads and free wifi – which means a lot if you’re a blogger – and are really nicely decorated. You can see more pictures after the jump…

The entrance walkway is so beautiful – even more so when it’s all lit up at night
The mini bar snacks had everything covered…
It was even stocked with plug adaptors, sleeping pills, band-aids, pain-killers and vitamins
