Christy Turlington Covers Harper’s Bazaar in Tom Ford & Balenciaga

Nobody can work a cover shoot quite like one of the original supermodels, so I’m thrilled to see Christy Turlington has been photographed for the June 2013 issue of Harper’s Bazaar US. Christy models a Balenciaga dress on the newsstand edition (you may recognise it, as Carey Mulligan wore the same look to the Met Gala) and an OTT Tom Ford design for the subscriber’s cover. Both images are stunning – I think Harper’s Bazaar definitely have a bestseller on their hands…

The only thing that annoys me about this cover is the fact they felt the need to mention Christy is “fabulous at 44″, as if it’s some kind of miracle that anyone over 35 could still be fabulous. Why do magazines continue with this annoying “fabulous at [enter non-shocking age here]” stick? Surely if someone is fabulous at 39 they’ll continue to be fabulous into their 40′s and beyond. It’s insanely irritating. Just say Christy Turlington is fabulous. Simple.

The Harper’s Bazaar team certainly know how to put together an unfortgettable editorial. Simply dress model-of-the-moment, Kate Upton, in the hottest Pre-Fall 2013 looks (all of which have a safari vibe), and then invite a litter of tiger cubs to pose alongside her. What could possibly be more wholesome and cute than an All-American Girl helping baby animals? Especially when said girl is dressed in the latest Lanvin and Gucci collections…

Carine Roitfeld styled ‘The Animal Nursery’ editorial, as she is now the Global Fashion Director at Harper’s Bazaar. This shoot will run in all 26 global editions of the magazine, so apologies if I’m showing you something you’ve already seen a million times – I just couldn’t resist! Kate and the tiger cub now cover Harper’s Bazaar Brazil, and a new set of pictures from the shoot were printed in the UK May edition. Out of interest, how do you feel about this repetition from magazines?

Drew Barrymore Covers Harper’s Bazaar US in Louis Vuitton

Drew Barrymore Harper's Bazaar March 2013 Louis Vuitton cover Drew Barrymore covers the March 2013 issue of Harper’s Bazaar US, modelling a chequered Louis Vuitton design. The 37-year-old actress is back in the spotlight, after taking a break, last year, to get married and have a baby. I’ve always been a big fan of Drew, so I’m happy to see her on Bazaar’s cover – especially as it’s such a great image!

There are no movie projects in the works for Drew, at the moment, but she’s currently promoting her new makeup collection, Flower. The line of beauty products has been created for Walmart and went into stores earlier this month. Speaking about the project to Harper’s Bazaar, Drew said: “It’s my crusade to help women feel good about themselves.”

Kate Bosworth Covers Harper’s Bazaar Australia January 2013

Kate Bosworth covers the January 2013 issue of Harper’s Bazaar Australia, and it’s definitely one of the style icon’s strongest covers to date. In fact, I think Kate’s February 2008 US Vogue cover is the only shoot that comes close to this fabulous portrait – it’s a real winner!

The 29-year-old actress and JewelMint designer has three new movies set for release in 2013, so I assume she’s currently promoting Movie 43, an ensamble comedy which has a totally random cast – Emma Stone, Richard Gere, Kate Winslet, Seann William Scott, Halle Berry… it continues.

Movie 43 is released at the end of January, so even if that’s not why Kate’s on the cover of Haper’s Bazaar we can still look forward to her promotional wardrobe. Plus, Kate’s a bride-to-be, so hopefully she will have spilled some of the details to Harper’s. Emily Blunt Covers Harper’s Bazaar Australia

Emily Blunt covers the November 2012 issue of Harper’s Bazaar Australia. The 29-year-old actress shows off her lighter hair colour (I like the honey blonde highlights) and models a low-cut printed gown on the cover. It’s a fun shoot for Emily, who doesn’t usually look this vampy.
Note the addition of fashion’s cult-favourite, the YSL ‘Arty’ ring…
I believe Emily is currently promoting Looper, which would explain why she’s on Bazaar’s latest cover. She’s also been back in the news this week, as her older sister Felicity has just married her Devil Wears Prada co-star, Stanely Tucci. I wonder if Emily played matchmaker…

Kate Hudson Covers Harper’s Bazaar US, October 2012

Kate Hudson covers the October 2012 issue of Harper’s Bazaar US, modelling a black Ralph Lauren dress. With Kate Hudson the only accessory you ever need is a winning Hollywood smile (she has one of the best in the business), so Harper’s kept it simple, and didn’t overload the cover with jewellery. I like the image a lot – it’s simple, clean and Kate looks incredible!
Some of Kate’s best editorials to date have been for Harper’s Bazaar US, so I can’t wait to get my hands on the new issue. Camilla Åkrans photographed the 33-year-old actress in the latest couture collections. How could that be anything but brilliant?
