Gemma Arterton Wows in Erdem and Veronica Lake Waves

British actress Gemma Arterton definitely doesn’t get enough attention. Her red carpet style is polished, glamourous and never lacks variety. Gemma is currently promoting the action/fantasy thriller, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, and whilst the film itself is of no interest to me I’ve been following the promotional tour closely. So far Gemma has worn Nina Ricci polka-dots, a patterned Vivienne Westwood number and a sexy LBD by Gucci. My favourite look, however, has to be the floral Erdem dress, which the 27-year-old wore to the Sydney premiere, yesterday. It was a truly magnificent choice…

I also think it’s Gemma’s strongest beauty look (so far, at least) as the Veronica Lake-style waves perfectly complement the Erdem design. The hair-slide is also a really nice touch too – simple, but very effective. I must invest in some good hair accessories, this season. Are also you a fan of Gemma Arterton’s style? Do you like her floral Erdem dress?

Burberry Prorsum S/S 2012: The Front Row

The Burberry Prorsum show is always such a spectacle that I’m going to have to split it into two posts. First up it’s the front row. I’m starting with the guest list for two reasons: first of all because there were lots of celebrities on the front row, and secondly, because I was running late so missed all of the arrivals. I spotted Sienna Miller (who is so beautiful), but that was about it. So, who else was there?
Kanye West made his second London Fashion Week appearance (he was also spotted front row at Christopher Kane that morning) sitting in between Ellie Goulding and Sienna Miller. Gemma Arterton, Rosie H-W and Mario Testino were on the same bench and Anna Wintour sat directly opposite. I didn’t even realise Rachel Zoe was at the show until I saw the pictures. She was sat at the other end of the runway.
Ever since Burberry returned to London Fashion Week the brand has been the hot ticket, and the show arrivals are set up like a premiere. Guests posed for the waiting paparazzi before entering the Hyde Park venue. Obviously, they all wore Burberry.

I’m pretty certain that I saw Lily Donaldson on crutches, inside the tent, so that may explain the ballet flats. Who do you think was the best dressed on the front row?

Carine Roitfeld Throws a Party for Gucci

Yesterday I was wondering what Jessica Alba had flown into Paris for and the answer was the Gucci Rue Royale reopening. Last night, in Paris, Vogue editor-in-cheif Carine Roitfeld held a private dinner in honor of Gucci’s Frida Giannini; celebrating the newly renovated Gucci boutique. And Jessica was one of the many famous faces in attendance. Everyone was dressed in Gucci and obviously everyone was looking fantastic. Here’s what Gucci’s guests wore:

Jessica Alba wearing a one-of-a-kind strapless Gucci cocktail dress. Love the slick hair!
Carine Roitfeld and Gucci Creative Director, Frida Giannini, make a statement in black.
Olivia Wilde wearing a S/S 2011 jumpsuit. She’s having a fashion moment right now.

Keep reading to see which stylish man Jessica was getting cosy with and what Kate Moss, Diane Kruger and Gemma Arterton decided to wear…

Diane Kruger was stunning as ever in a S/S silk organza backless dress.
Gemma Arterton chose a S/S linen dress. Very safari chic.
Jessica Alba and Mario Testino. Will he snap her for Vogue’s cover this year?
Frida Giannini and Kate Moss who was working a bright red lip.

Who do you think was the best dressed at Gucci’s Rue Royale reopening?

Top Trend: Statement Shades

I’m a bit of a sunglasses geek. At one point I had boxes of them, just cheap styles I’d picked up here and there, but I’ve since got rid of most as I tend to stick to my trusty supersized Gucci sunnies.
But as a sunglasses lover I have, rather predictably, fallen for the over-the-top pointed styles shown on the S/S runways. The Alexander Wang shades look like so much fun, especially worn by Gemma Arterton in i-D magazine. But my personal favourites are the Giles shades – which look wonderfully cartoon-like.

shades

I haven’t seen any good versions of this look on the highstreet yet, so if you want in on the action it looks like you are going to have to go to the top. If you’re not really one to follow trends (something tells me the Wang shades will have a rather short shelf life as they’re so ‘it’) then these Linda Farrow cat-eye frames are the best alternative. They’re distinctive but less obviously “on trend”, if you know what I mean.
