Jennifer Lawrence Shows Off Her Mulberry Bag and Velvet Slippers

Over the weekend Jennifer Lawrence was photographed outside the Chateau Marmont Hotel wearing a faux fur jacket, a thigh-high slit maxi skirt and black brogues with untied laces (you can see the pictures here). It wasn’t her hottest outfit ever, and the fashion police went a little bit berserk, with The Huffington Post writing it “made them squirm”. I doubt the hoopla bothered Jennifer, as she’s never really struck me as A Fashion Girl, but she made up for the style-slip anyway, casually flaunting two statement accessories when she was next papped…

Perched on a wall outside an LA office, Jennifer showed off her Mulberry Lily bag in “Flame Exotic Tweed” (you can find the virtually identical Cecily style, pictured above, in the Mulberry sale right now) and a fabulous pair of velvet slippers. I think her shoes are past-season Nichols Kirkwood’s, but you can get the look with Gap’s tassel loafers.

Later this week Jennifer will be on the red carpet at the Golden Globes, where she’s nominated for the Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical award. I’m crossing my fingers for the 22-year-old and can’t wait to see what she wears!

Do you like Jennifer Lawrence’s statement accessories? Are you excited to see her at the Golden Globe Awards?

Shopping For Fashion-Forward Rain Coats

According to the weather app on my iPhone it’s going rain all week in London. We may not have the most enviable weather in the UK, but Brits certainly know how to dress for a rainy day, and I’ve noticed a great selection of rain coats on offer this spring. From Gap’s classic red trench through to Joseph’s urban parka there’s a rain coat for every mood, this season…

My personal favourites are the Joseph and Jason Wu jackets, which both have a sporty vibe that feels so right for Spring/Summer 2012. That said, I don’t think you can ever go wrong with a chic trench coat… Which is your favourite style of rain coat?

Going Shopping in My Own Wardrobe

I spent the majority of the weekend browsing online stores for clothes I don’t really need. Luckily I was feeling strong-willed and managed to keep my virtual shopping basket empty. So instead of buying yet another pair of heeled ankle boots (a girl can never have too many, right?) I decided to go shopping in my own wardrobe. Hiding in a storage box was Zara’s faux-fur gilet from about two years ago and a polka dot Topshop knit. Layered together they were perfect for an October afternoon.
Wearing a Topshop jumper, Zara faux-fur, Gap jeans, Carvela  wedges from last A/W, ASOS belt, Stella McCartney Spring 2011 sunglasses, Michael Kors watch and Zara handbag
I also discovered a pair of Gap jeans hiding at the bottom of my towering denim pile. Personally, I think jeans should be on the Joey Essex side of tight, so I must have dismissed these in the past for being too baggy. But worn rolled up with my faithful Carvela wedge boots they worked quite nicely. I’ll definitely be wearing them again.
Which A/W pieces from last year (or the year before) are you currently working into your fall 2011 look?  And I’m thinking of working more outfit posts into the blog, as the LFW post was so popular. Let me know what you think.

Love is all Around

Valentine’s day is in 10 days. That means if you don’t already have a boyfriend (me included – unless the blog counts) you have 10 days to have a whirlwind romance. That is if you want a tacky card from Clinton’s. If not it’s just another day.
But why not celebrate by buying a festive Lulu Guinness lip clutch? It is romantic enough to work for Valentine’s day, but it is a quirky classic that will come in handy on many nights.

I’m sure if SATC was still on TV, and not killing itself in movies, Carrie would carry one on a Valentine’s date with Mr Big.
My favourites are the the red and gold snakeskin lips. Dita Von Teese was spotted with a clutch years ago, and I love the image of her so much I’ve kept it in a scrapbook.

Prices for the lip clutches start at £195. View the whole collection at luluguinness.com.

Also (RED), the brand designed to engage business and consumer power to help eliminate AIDS in Africa has introduced new products just in time for February 14th from partners including Emporio Armani, Hallmark, Gap, Apple and Starbucks.

Armani has created a Heart T-Shirt, available at Emporio Armani stores internationally. GAP has also gone down the T-Shirt route, releasing a line designed by international artists. The shirts are available starting February 9th in all US Gap stores and on gap.com/red for $28.

Dear Gap…

It’s too late to make alterations to Christmas lists now, but I am putting in a request for Christmas 2009 – early yes, but if you don’t ask you don’t get.
Can Gap please please cast Katie Holmes in their 2009 Fall/Winter adverts.
There is no one better suited to Gap, and it looks like Katie is even auditioning for this role, this look below (from about 2 weeks ago) is totally and utterly Gap.
Two months ago I would have passed these pictures of Katie by with little interest, but it is December, it is freezing and she looks so snug.

I went to my local Gap yesterday and everything was so soft and warm looking. It’s rather scary when you start looking at a Gap jumper with the same love you looked at the Alexander McQueen dress you adore in Harvey Nichols.

But the point is, Katie for Gap would be great right? Especially if Suri made an appearance too. So please Gap/Santa, cast Katie for 09.

P.S Michelle Williams would also be great in an ad.

Selma and Gap = Perfection!

I love Gap adverts. As a child I used to tape them off the TV – I think I have always been a geek. They always do the most amazing Christmas adverts, and they choose great songs.
Selma Blair is one of my girl crushes so it’s great to see her taking a staring role, singing Baby It’s Cold Outside with Rainn Wilson.

Baby It’s Cold Outside is one of my favourite songs by the way, I always listen to the Tom Jones and Cerys Matthews version around Christmas.

The Selma ad nearly beats SJP and Lenny Kravitz from 2004. But that still stands as the greatest TV advert of all time in my eyes. Remind yourself of the wonder here.

Also the rest of the Gap ads are worth checking out. I am 99.9% sure Geo from Ugly Betty is in some, but it may just be someone else that looks a lot like him. Watch the rest here.
