Inside the 2013 ELLE Style Awards with Next

Last night the 2013 ELLE Style Awards took place at the Savoy hotel, in London. There was a great celebrity turn-out, as many Hollywood insiders extended their trip to the city after the BAFTAs. I was lucky enough to attend the awards with the official sponsor, Next, and was seated right in the middle of the action. Kate Hudson and Stella McCartney were catching up on the table to my left, Chloë Grace Moretz was working the room in an on-trend monochrome dress, and all eyes were glued to Bradley Cooper, who took home the award for Best Actor. It was a truly unforgettable evening and I’ll do my best to share all the gossip with you. Read on to find out what happened inside the 2013 ELLE Style Awards…

Before the awards were handed out we sat down to a delicious three-course dinner in the stunning Savoy ballroom. The menu featured black sesame maki rolls, followed by charred corn fed chicken and an amazing Oero vanilla cheesecake. Once the champagne was flowing and everyone had overdosed on cheesecake, Radio One’s Nick Grimshaw took to the stage. It was his first year as the ELLE Style Awards host, and he did a fantastic job. He was brave enough to joke around with movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, angered a supermodel and hilariously stated it was a momentous evening as the absent Best Music Act, Emeli Sandé, had turned down an invitation for the “first time ever”.

The night’s big awards went to Chloë Moretz (who won Next’s Future Icon), Christopher Kane (Best British Designer of the Year) and Roksanda Ilincic (Red Carpet Fashion). When Chloë accepted her award she thanked all the designers that regularly loan her dresses, revealing when she first came to attention in Kick Ass she could barely convince anyone to lend her a shirt.

At the end of the night I think most guests went home with a crush on Chris O’Dowd (who is really hot in person, photos do not do him justice) and an even bigger girl-crush on Kate Hudson. But without a doubt, the night belonged to Les Misérables actress, Samantha Barks, who dazzled the room with a surprise performance. She’s definitely on the path to A-list status, and she also happens to rock a LBD like a pro….

The Revenge Cast Get a Fashion Makeover in ELLE US

I don’t know about you, but I’m completely obsessed with Revenge. I watched the first season back-to-back in less than three days, and I’m enjoying the second series, which started in the UK last week. The show is pretty stylish as it is (I love Ashley’s wardrobe), but the cast all received a makeover in US ELLE’s February issue. Gone are the body-con dresses and the bright colours, and in their place are slick tailored looks by Jason Wu, Haider Ackermann and Alexander Wang. It’s pretty fabulous, so you must check it out. My favourite looks are, of course, Christa B. Allen (aka Charlotte Grayson) in Alberta Ferretti and Ashley Madekwe (aka Ashley Davenport) in frilly J.W. Anderson shorts.

Scarlett Johansson Covers ELLE UK February 2013 Modelling a Victoria Beckham Design

Scarlett Johansson covers the February 2013 issue of ELLE UK, modelling a white dress by Victoria Beckham and a pair of matching Manolo Blahnik for VB heels. The Hitchcock actress looks absolutely amazing in the Spring 2013 design, but I’m not so sure about the booties — they’re not the most flattering choice. Also, am I the only one who thinks Scarlett looks a lot like Fearne Cotton in this image? It’s not a bad thing, I’ve just never noticed any similarities between them before. It must be the hair…

ELLE UK‘s February 2013 issue hits newsstands on January 2nd, and I can’t wait to see the subscriber’s cover and Rankin editorial. This fabulous cover has definitely made up for the big Kylie disappointment.

Jessica Biel Covers ELLE US January 2013 in Christian Dior

Jessica Biel covers the January 2013 issue of ELLE US, modelling an embellished Dior dress. The 30-year-old actress spoke exclusively to the magazine about her choice to wear pink on her wedding day. Jessica revealed the custom Giambattista Valli design was “a bit of a leap of faith at the time,” however, the result was “better than I could have ever imagined. I felt elegant. And it moved like a dream.”

And, speaking of Giambattista Valli, the Italian designer posed alongside Jessica in the accompanying ELLE editorial. As did Christian Louboutin, Jean Paul Gaultier and Azzedine Alaïa. Kylie Covers ELLE UK January 2013 in Christopher Kane

Kylie Minogue covers the January 2013 issue of ELLE UK modelling a dress from Christopher Kane‘s amazing Spring/Summer 2013 collection. I love the dress, the heels (are they Sophia Webster?) and the pose, but can’t deal with the bleach blonde hair. It reminds me of Lindsay Lohan. Still, I’m excited to see the accompanying photo shoot, as Kylie always unleashes her inner supermodel!

The glossy is one of my all-time favourites, and this year gave use some brilliant surprises – from the Olsens’ double covers in April to David Beckham’s steamy July shoot. For me Ashley Olsen takes the lead (of course) but I also love Dakota Fanning and Lady Gaga’s covers. It’s such a shame Emily Blunt’s May cover was so dull, as she’s one of my favourite Brit actresses. But my least favourites are the Cameron Diaz and Kristen Stewart covers, as they’re both rather unflattering.

Next year I’d like to see Rihanna, Emma Stone, Jourdan Dunn, Scarlett Jonhansson, Victoria Beckham and Eva Mendes get the ELLE UK treatment. Who would you like to see covering the magazine in 2013?
