This year has flown by, and I seriously can’t believe it’s July already. In fact, I almost forgot to put this post together, as it doesn’t feel like mid-summer. Luckily the next four weeks are going to be fairly quiet anyway, as everyone in fashion takes a well-deserved vacation and starts to prepare for fashion week in September. There’s still some exciting events to look forward to, however. Take a look at the dates you need to mark in your diary this month…
Now… The buzz around Kenzo’s tiger sweaters has finally died down and their new ‘It’ item is the cloud-print shirt (£300 from Net-A-Porter). It’s the perfect summer buy: tuck it into skater skirts, cut-off denim shorts and white jeans for a cool off-duty look. And, if you’re looking for a hot pair of heels to team with the pastel design, Balenciaga’s leather slingbacks are sure to turn a few heads (£425 at Matchesfashion.com).
July 1st… The Paris Haute Couture shows start today, with Christian Dior and Giambattista Valli showing their Fall 2013 collections. Karl Lagerfeld is sure to have a few surprises up his sleeve for the Chanel presentation, which takes place on the 2nd, and this season also marks Viktor & Rolf’s return to the couture schedule. Exciting times ahead!
July 3rd… Bourjois are celebrating their 150th anniversary this year, and as part of the festivities they’re launching a new lipstick collection for the summer. The Bourjois Shine Edition line arrives in Superdrug stores on the 3rd and will be available nationwide from July 10th. There are eight shades in the collection – ranging from bold fuchsias to cool coral colours – and they all have a pretty, glossy finish. Perfect for International Kissing Day, on July 6th!
July 7th… The Wimbledon finals take place this weekend, with the women’s match on Saturday 6th and the men’s final on Sunday 7th. As Roger Federer was knocked out in the second round it’s unlikely Anna Wintour will make a courtside appearance, but I’m crossing my fingers she might come out to support Andy Murray instead. Wimbledon isn’t the same without Ms Wintour…
July 12th… This month marks the 50 year anniversary of Cleopatra‘s release, and the iconic Elizabeth Taylor film has been restored for a theatrical re-release. The movie will makes its return to selected UK cinemas from the 12th, so check with your local theatre to see whether it’s playing. If not you can find the DVD for £3.65 at Amazon, so could always throw your own Cleopatra screening party to celebrate the anniversary in style.
July 29th… Regular Coco’s Tea Party readers will know I’ve had my hair styled by the wonderful Errol Douglas MBE a few times over the last year, so naturally I’m really excited about his latest project. This month sees the launch of Errol’s electrical hair tool range, which includes the first built-in Keratin capsule system available on the high street. The Treat & Style styler moisturizes and protects hair as it works, keeping your hair sleek and conditioned. Find it in Boots stores from July 29th (£109.99).
Coming really soon… The Royal baby! Rumour has it the Duchess of Cambridge is due to give birth on July 13th. I’m sure that date must be a cover-up to give Kate and Will some privacy, but the baby is definitely due this month. So now we just have to patiently wait and see whether it’s a boy or a girl. What’s your guess?
