Shopping For: The Perfect Grey Knit Sweater

Topshop Grey Rib Knit
Shop the Edit: 1. Neon necklace by Topshop | 2. Floral clutch by Christopher Kane |  3. Grey rib knit by Topshop | 4. Purple T-shirt by J.Crew | 5. Mid-rise skinny jeans by Current/Elliott | 6. Yellow sandals by ASOS | 7. Parka by DKNY

It looks like high street stores are slowly coming to their senses and realising we don’t really need countless embellished kaftans in May and heavy, wool coats in August. What we really want are clothes we can buy today and wear today. So kudos to Topshop for producing a flawless summer sweater. The Topshop grey rib knit is perfect for layering and can be worn as a light cover-up on warm evenings or paired with slick parakas and skinny jeans on muggy, grey days.

I’m tempted to order this knit twice, because I know like this is one item I’ll want to wear over and over again. Let me know how you’d style this dreamy sweater in the comments section…

Temporary Tattoos are the Latest Nineties Trend to Make a Comeback

The nineties are back in a big way. You only need to look at a candid snap of Rihanna, Cara Delevingne or Rita Ora to understand that much. Over the last 12 months we’ve welcomed back crop tops, Boy London, dungarees, slip dresses, tie dye, scrunchies (ick!), New Balance sneakers and high-waisted ‘mom jeans’. Even Leonardo DiCaprio, our favourite ’90s pin-up, is having a revival! So it was really only a matter of time before temporary tattoos returned as well…

Temporary Tattoos

Both Topshop and ASOS are stocking a variety of temporary tattoo designs, this season, and they all have a distinctly ’90s feel about them. Sadly no one has created a dolphin design yet (remember when dolphins were the hot tattoo?!) but I’m sure they’ll be available soon. In the meantime you can experiment with these bizarrely tropical temporary tattoos…

Would you wear a temporary tattoo this summer? I wouldn’t mind wearing the pineapple, swallow, flamingo and star designs, but I draw the line at the parrot! Let me know your thoughts on this look…

Selena Gomez Rocks Head-to-Toe Kenzo Print in InStyle US

Selena Gomez has been booking a lot of cover shoots lately. Her on/off relationship with Justin Bieber, upcoming album release and stunning looks are obviously too much for the glossies to resist! The 20-year-old star’s most recent cover is the June 2013 issue of InStyle US, which is on newsstands now. My favourite image shows Selena modelling a printed Kenzo top and matching trousers. The style is absolutely perfect for her, as it’s bold and grown-up without looking too risque. I’m pretty sure Selena is keen to keep her squeaky-clean image, so playful prints should become her go-to look.

Selena Gomez Kenzo

But unfortunately Selena Gomez exclusively told InStyle the Kenzo design isn’t something she’d normally wear. “I never do prints in my personal style or on red carpets, so I thought it would be fun for me to do prints for this,” she explained. “I always like to change it up for different photoshoots.”

Personally I think Selena is missing a trick here, as she clearly looks brilliant in head-to-toe print. Hopefully she’ll give the trend another go, and if so I think the following all-in-ones would be a good starting point…

Jumpsuit Shop the Edit: 1. Left print jumpsuit by Topshop | 2. Tropical print top and matching trousers by Whistles | 3. Floral print jumpsuit by Sophie Hulme | 4. Tapered jumpsuit by ASOS Africa

And, in semi-related news, have you seen the hilarious Selena Gomez/Taylor Swift/Justin Beiber GIF from the Billboard Music Awards yet? Basically Justin leans in to kiss Selena on the cheek and Taylor sticks out her tongue and makes a totally priceless ‘eeew’ face. See it here. I have the same reaction to Beiber, so this made me love Taylor even more…

5 of the Best Pink Sunglasses for Summer 2013

There was a time, not so long ago, when I couldn’t stop buying sunglasses. I had a serious addiction. Eventually I ran out of storage space and enforced a strict shopping ban. But I think I may need to allow myself one sneaky purchase, this season, as the Spring/Summer 2013 collections are filled with beautiful pink sunglasses. The style sounds slightly odd at first (why take a risk with pink shades when you can play it safe with classic tortoiseshell and black?), but there are so many cool options out there, so you’re sure to find a design thats suits your look. Here are five of the best…

Pink Sunglasses Spring 2013
Shop the Edit: 1. Cat eye sunglasses by ASOS, £12 // 2. Speckled square sunglasses by Quay Eyewear, £25 // 3. Rose sunglasses by Elizabeth and James, £123 // 4. Fifties-inspired sunglasses by Prada, £275 // 5. Coral circle frame sunglasses by Topshop, £16

Designer junkies should head straight towards Prada’s ’50s-inspired frames. The retro feel is perfect for summer and will add a feminine edge to casual, urban looks. If you’re on a budget try the cat eye sunglasses from ASOS instead, as they hint to the more expensive Prada pair.

Those of you who love to make a fashion statement should give Quay Eyewear’s bubblegum pink sunnies a try, but if you’re still not 100% sold on the trend Elizabeth and James offers a great compromise. Their subtle rose pink sunglasses are almost a neutral, and the shape is fairly timeless. If you’re looking for a long-term investment these frames are the best bet!

Shopping For: Candy Coloured Spring Florals

Shopping Candy Coloured Florals
Shop the Edit: 1. Floral T-shirt dress by ASOS // 2. Leather tote bag by Whistles // 3. Daisy print top by Sportmax Code // 4. High-waisted silk skirt by Tibi // 5. Pink crystal earrings by ASOS // 6. Yellow nail polish by Models Own // 7. Sequin knit jumper by Markus Lupfer // 8. Yellow leather sandals by Topshop

Looking at this week’s shopping selection I can’t help thinking of Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada. “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” Yes, there’s nothing new about floral prints for Spring/Summer, but every year when the sun comes out we reach for feminine flowers again. This season designers have given the look a punchy feel, using bright – sometimes acidic – candy colours. It might not be groundbreaking, but it certainly feels fresh and exciting.

My favourite buys are Tibi’s high-waisted neon skirt, ASOS’ bright pink T-shirt dress and Sportmax Code’s daisy-print vest. Pair them with block colours and statement accessories for a style so hot even Ms Priestly would be impressed!

Fashion Insiders Are Obsessed With ASOS Curve Spring/Summer 2013

ASOS Curve Spring 2013

Recently I’ve been having the same fashion conversation over and over again. It starts like this: “I can’t stop shopping at ASOS this season.” Then comes the reply: “Oh, me too. I’m addicted.” And finally these magic words are spoken: “Have you seen the ASOS Curve collection? It’s amazing!”

Honestly, I’m not exaggerating here. I’ve had this exact exchange five times over the last two weeks. Twice with fashion PRs and three times with friends. Sure, five people is just a small party really, but it definitely feels like ASOS’ plus size label is having a major fashion moment. Just take a look at the ASOS Curve Spring/Summer 2013 collection and you’ll understand why. It’s full of print, colour, fabulous summer dresses and statement trend-driven pieces…

ASOS Curve Plus Size Spring 2013

The Curve design team re-work pieces from the ASOS mainline to fit a fuller-figure (sizing runs from 18-28) and they also create unique looks exclusive to ASOS Curve. In the past high street retailers have left curvier women wishing that ‘It’ top/dress/jacket came in their size, but now I find myself browsing on ASOS and wishing the Curve collection also came in smaller sizes. Props to ASOS for listening to their customer and giving them what they want!

ASOS Curve Spring/Summer 2013 is slowly starting to hit the website. Shop here and look out for the main drop in May.
