Four Colourful New Beauty Products for Spring 2013

new beauty products 2013

At the start of each season most of us do a thorough wardrobe clear out, but do you ever take the time to go through your makeup bag? If not now is your moment. A host of exciting new products are starting to arrive on beauty counters, so it’s the perfect time for a spring clean.

Swap dark, smokey eyes and heavy liquid eyeliner for a slick of Clinique’s lightweight sheer colours. The Chubby Stick shadows are easy to apply and come in a great selection of shades (my personal favourite is “Whopping Willow”). Worn with a few coats of mascarra and a dusting of AERIN’s pretty Floral Illuminating Powder, your daytime beauty look will be sorted in under five minutes.

And once the clock strikes six simply apply a coat of Yves Saint Laurent’s Rouge Volupte lipstick, which will take you from office to bar. With 19 different shades in the Rouge Volupte collection there’s definitely something for everyone, and the lipstick’s fruity mango scent instantly makes it feel like summer!

That’s your makeup bag sorted then. And if you’re looking for a new, summery fragrance to accompany S/S 2013′s fresh beauty looks you’ll want to try Jo Malone’s limited-edition Sugar & Spice colognes. Launching in March, the collection includes five quirky scents: Redcurrant & Cream, Ginger Biscuit, Lemon Tart, Bitter Orange & Chocolate and Elderflower & Gooseberry. You’ll either want to wear them or eat them…

The Beauty Products I’m Using Right Now…

This post is long overdue, but I’ve wanted to share some of my recent beauty discoveries with you for ages, so I think it’s better late than never. Although most of these products aren’t new, I’ve only just started using them, and the majority have now become makeup bag essentials…
Garnier Caffine Anti Dark-Circles Eye Roller: One of my male friends recommended Garnier’s dark circle cover-up and seeing as he never has dark circles I knew I had to try it for myself. I’m an unfortunate sufferer of “panda eyes” so am always looking out for brilliant concealers, and the light texture of this eye roller really impressed me. It doesn’t create a cakey or creased look under the eyes, but it wasn’t quite strong enough for me. I’d definitely suggest trying it if you’re looking for something to hide the occasional late night though.
Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara: I received a sample of this mascara in a Glossybox a couple of months ago and only tried it out when my Chanel mascara unexpectedly ran out. Instantly I became hooked on the stuff! So much so that it’s now my mascara of choice.
Nars Sheer Glow Foundation: This is another product I’d heard great things about, and a few weeks ago a makeup artist used it on me during a photoshoot. I immediately went out and bought a bottle, and I’ve been using ever since. Sheer Glow is long lasting and great if you don’t like heavy foundations but need more coverage than a tinted moisturiser can offer. I’m now a Nars convert…
Aerin Lip Gloss: I’m usually not a fan of lip gloss but I’ve been using Aerin’s “sweet pea” shade for over a week. It’s a nice natural colour and isn’t too sticky. I always hate a sticky lip gloss!
Moroccanoil Hair Treatment: Errol Douglas and his team got me hooked on Moroccanoil. I’m using it once or twice a week and it’s made a big difference to my hair. I’m naturally a brunette but I have my hair lightened every six weeks, or so, which leave can leave it dry and dull. This treatment is genius as it leaves my hair feeling soft and silky without creating a greasy texture.

Aerin Lauder Launches Her Debut Makeup Collection

Beauty junkies are sure to get excited about Aerin Lauder’s debut makeup collection, AERIN. The makeup and beauty collection officially launched today, and I was treated to a preview at Claridge’s hotel. Aerin grew up “in the world of beauty” (interestingly her grandmother, Estée Lauder, was just two years older than Aerin is today, when she started her business) so she certainly knows what makes a good product. And trust me, the AERIN collection is brilliant…
The Weekday Palette includes two eyeshadows, a blush and a cheek/lip colour
The debut collection is split into two sections: The Essentials and a seasonal Style Collection, designed specifically for A/W 2012. All of the products have been carefully selected to provide your everyday beauty essentials in the most luxurious way possible. As Aerin Lauder explains:

“I believe you don’t need a complicated, time-consuming beauty routine to look beautiful. Having grown up in the world of beauty, I’ve been fortunate to have access to an incredible array of wonderful products. That exposure has helped make me the ultimate beauty editor, pairing my routine down to the essentials with the most impact.”

The Essentials have been narrowed down to six two-in-one foundation and concealer creams, two bronzing powders, a colour for cheeks and lips, a lip conditioner, a hand and body cream and a set of makeup brushes. The Fall collection includes two palettes, two lipsticks and two lip glosses. All of the products are rose scented and come in elegant pink and gold packaging.

My AERIN favourite? The Weekend Palette. I love the glossy neutrals…
