Cash, Credit, Debit… Leopard Print Bomber Jackets

Giambattista Valli Leopard Print Bomber JacketIt’s taken me a while to get into bomber jackets. At first I wasn’t convinced by the trend (despite the Isabel Marant effect), as with a boyish figure I try to avoid anything too tomboyish. But after a couple of seasons in the limelight I’ve slowly started to warm up to the bomber jacket.

This is mostly due to the introduction of animal print. My obsession with animal print has become a bit of a running joke amongst my friends: I’ll wear anything from bold tiger stripes to retro dalmatian spots (and sometimes all at the same time). But it really is amazing what a splash of leopard can do to a sporty silhouette. Suddenly it becomes super-feminine.

Giambattista Valli showed a head-to-toe leopard look in his Pre-Fall 2013 collection [left] which has inspired me to give bomber jackets a go. I probably wouldn’t attempt the full printed style, but an animal print bomber jacket worn with a simple tank top, skinny jeans and spike stilettos feels fun and fresh.

The Giambattista design comes in at over £1,000 (craziness!), but you can find similar styles at Topshop and in the current Equipment collection. Here’s a bomber for every budget…
