See Carey Mulligan’s ‘Great Gatsby’ Themed US Vogue Editorial

Carey Mulligan Vogue US cover May 2013Carey Mulligan covers the May 2013 issue of US Vogue, appearing in character as Daisy Buchanan from The Great Gatsby. The 27-year-old British actress models a lime green Oscar de la Renta gown on the cover and was photographed for the magazine by Mario Testino. Carey also had the pleasure of working with Grace Coddington – who rarely styles celebrity features, but has always made an exception for Miss Mulligan.

So far the cover isn’t getting a lot of love online. The biggest issue appears to be Carey’s expression (which I have to admit, is bothering me a bit too) and the metallic cloche hat. Oscar de la Renta’s green AW13 design is also splitting opinion, which I find surprising. I know it’s an unusual colour, but I personally think it’s one of the most exciting dresses to cover Vogue in recent months. If not years! I truly love it.

Anyway, if Carey Mulligan’s second US Vogue cover has left you feeling disappointed you’ll be pleased to hear the accompanying editorial is flawless. The Great Gatsby theme continues, with Carey modelling 1920’s-inspired looks from the likes of Alexander McQueen, Dior, Nina Ricci and Chanel. Here are my two favourite images:

The exclusive interview has also been posted online – so if you’re counting down the days until The Great Gatsby‘s May release make sure you take 15 minutes out of your day to read it. Bad. Worst vogue cver ever!

  2. JeweledPin says:

I really like the cover. Carey looks divine.

  3. Izzy says:

I adore her but the cover could have been so much more. Carey as Daisy is sooo exciting though. Anyway either of the two shots you posted would have been so much better.
