Imagine for a moment that a £1,000 Net-a-Porter gift voucher landed in your lap, completely out of the blue, one day. What would you buy? I’ve given this a lot of thought, and I wouldn’t go down the predictable route of a designer handbag or a new pair of shoes. Instead I’d invest in a pair of quality leather leggings.
For me it’s the most obvious and sensible choice because they’re such a versatile piece (pair them with a silk blouse and fitted blazer for work, or a casual tee and flats on the weekend). And it’s really, really, really hard to find affordable leather leggings that actually fit well. To get a truly awesome pair (like the cropped Vince style, featured above) you usually have to drop at least £800.
Thankfully it’s now very rare that you need to spend a lot of money to get the luxury look. And this week I’ve spotted so many brilliant high street designs. I love Phase Eight’s stripe blouse – the cross-over back gives it a luxe finish, and it’s a great trans-seasonal workwear update. Plus, I also have my eye on Mango’s circle handle shoulder bag (a total bargain), Marks and Spencer’s red mules and New Look’s pinstripe skirt.
Which style buys are topping your wish list this week? And have you started to think about building a capsule work wardrobe for fall 2017 yet?
