The Best Light and Glowy Foundations

Best Glowy Foundations Chanel Les Beiges

I’m a creature of habit, and this extends to every area of my life. Even makeup. I know what I like, and I don’t stray from that. So, as far as foundation is concerned it’s gotta be lightweight and glowy. I’m not even sure if “glowy” is an actual word (spellcheck doesn’t seem to think so), but for the sake of this post it will have to be. Because you know exactly what I’m referring to – that healthy, just-slept-for-8-hours, radiant look that we all covet. And here are the best glowy foundations to achieve such a result…

Chanel VITALUMIÈRE AQUA Foundation
Really I could start and end this list with Chanel’s beloved VITALUMIÈRE AQUA (but I won’t, because that would be boring). It’s my absolute favourite foundation, without a shadow of a doubt! The lightweight, watery texture blends seamlessly into the skin, creating a really natural, balanced look. And the formula is surprisingly long-lasting, making it’s a great daytime option. It doesn’t completely cover blemishes, but has a way of elevating your skin and making you look like the best version of yourself.

YSL Touche Éclat Le Teint Foundation
YSL’s Touche Éclat Le Teint is a fairly new addition to my foundation collection, and it was love at first sight. The texture is similar to a serum, and the formula contains “golden pigment spheres”, which give the skin a beautiful, healthy glow. I favour light coverage, so just apply it with my fingers; but you could easily work your way up to medium or full coverage if you used a brush or BeautyBlender. My only complaint is that after a few hours of wear I start to become oily in the T-zone. So I usually save Le Teint for evenings, when I’m more likely to load up on mattifying powders.

Best Glowy Foundations Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder

Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Youth Perfecting Foundation
Light Wonder is a glowy, dewey formula that leaves skin looking so healthy people often ask if I’ve just been on holiday. This, however, does come with its pitfalls. And, like YSL’s Le Teint, after a few hours of wear my skin can become quite oily. However, it’s a small price to pay for the epic glow. And one of the artists at Charlotte’s Covent Garden store did recently show me how to minimise shine by using a mix of Light Wonder and Magic Foundation. They simply applied Magic on my T-zone and Light Wonder everywhere else. It worked a treat!

Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation
As you can probably tell, Chanel is my go-to brand when it comes to foundation. VITALUMIÈRE AQUA is my favourite, but Les Beiges Healthy Glow doesn’t lag too far behind. Les Beiges offers slightly more coverage than VITALUMIÈRE, so I usually wear it when I’m going to be on camera or want a more polished look. The texture feels matte to touch, but sits on the skin comfortably and remains lightweight. Unfortunately friends with dry skin haven’t got along so well with this foundation. But if you’re normal-to-oily like me definitely give it a try!
