How to Give Your Skin Some Much-Needed TLC Ahead of Autumn’s Arrival

Tras Seasonal Skincare Cocos Tea Party

I can’t believe we’ve almost come to the end of summer. It’s been such a fun season! And although I always look forward to the arrival of autumn – which brings cosy nights in, beautiful colours in nature, cashmere sweaters and hot chocolates – I wish we could delay fall by a few extra weeks.

But, no matter how hard I wish, we can’t pause time. So I’m powering on with my trans-seasonal rituals. And, at the moment, trans-seasonal skincare is my key focus…

My skin has been feeling a little bit off balance, lately. But that’s to be expected, as the summer causes so many stress points for our skin.

Sunscreen and sweat can both lead to congested pores and stubborn breakouts (especially if you haven’t been diligent about double-cleansing). Repeated applications of fake tan and frequent air travel are de-hydrating. And the influx in sugar from all of those ice creams and summer cocktails can result in blemishes and inflammation.

Luckily, however, there’s one treatment that addresses all of these issues: Balance Me’s Congested Skin Sheet Mask.

Balance Me is a natural and science-led British skincare brand, created by two sisters.  Over the years I’ve fallen in love with many of their results-driven products, and the Congested Skin Sheet Mask is a new favourite of mine.

The mask was developed to help treat combination, oily and acne-prone skin. And, the best part is, it’s 98.8% natural.

The black bamboo charcoal mask contains Zinc CPA to regulate sebum, Witch Hazel to reduce redness and inflammation, and Hyaluronic Acid to boost hydration.

These super ingredients work together with the fabric of the mask itself to draw out impurities without drying or irritating the skin.

I recently started using these masks once a week, to help treat my summer skin, and they’re such a lovely indulgence. First of all, the charcoal masks smell incredible (so good, in fact, that whilst taking these pictures Lydia, my photographer, kept commenting on the amazing fragrance). My skin always feels radiant, healthy and hydrated after the 15-minute treatment. And I love the fact the masks are almost 100% natural, as I’m trying to be more considerate about the beauty products I use.

As with most sheet masks, you apply Balance Me’s Congested Skin Sheet Mask to dry skin that has just been cleansed. Then leave on for 15-20 minutes.

Sometimes I talk myself out of doing a face mask, because I tell myself 15-20 minutes is wasted time. I mean, seriously, how Type A can I be?!

But, if that sounds a lot like you too, here are five activities that you can do whilst wearing the Balance Me sheet mask, to make it feel like a more productive use of your time:

1. Read a book or a magazine
2. Meditate using the Calm or Headspace App
3. Give yourself a mini pedicure
4. Listen to an episode of the Modern Love podcast
5. Phone your parents or grandparents for a quick chat
