I know what you must be thinking right now: not another black dress. Usually I’d spread out posts that feature similar looks – I also wore an LBD last week – but I felt an urgent need to share this particular Needle & Thread design with you because I have a feeling it might sell out soon. Fabulous little black dresses don’t hang around for long, as you know.
Rather stupidly I decided to photograph this flirty little number on the hottest day of the year (layers of heat-absorbing black tulle and the beating, midday sun are not a winning combo), and can officially confirm it’s not a sensible choice if it’s above 25°C. However, in all other circumstances you’d be hard pressed to find a better party dress.
I’m quite conscious of the fact the dress hasn’t photographed as well as it looks in person (I now understand why Anna Wintour refuses to shoot black items of clothing for Vogue), so in case you need convincing here are five reasons to love it…
– It’s black, so it goes with everything.
– It also comes in off-white, which would be a great choice for bridesmaids.
– The tiered layers make it perfect for shimmying. And who doesn’t love to shimmy?
– It could be Miu Miu and REDValentino’s long lost love child.
– At £175 it sits in that elusive ‘not high street but not designer’ price point.
I also gave my Charlotte Olympia Kitty & Co ‘Hippy Kitty’ flats their first proper outing. There are eight different kitty ‘personalities’ in the new capsule collection, and if you’re having a hard time choosing a favourite you can let the Charlotte Olympia magic 8 ball decide for you. Play along here.
Do you like this Needle and Thread dress? How would you style it? As always leave a comment and let me know…
