Exploring London’s Inspirational Hidden Spaces

ASOS Stripe Bonjour Sweater

As you may remember, a few weeks ago I reported that American Express were on a mission to find the most inspiring hidden spaces and secret hideaways in London. They weren’t interested in highlighting the usual tourist hotspots, and instead were searching out under-the-radar markets, great running routes and secluded places to soak up the sun and read a book.

And now a digital map of the top suggestions has been released on Pinterest so we can all enjoy London’s hidden gems (there is also a map for Manchester, Leeds and Glasgow). Amongst the edit you’ll find Kentish Town City Farm, the Southbank Book Market, Postman’s Park and my personal favourite: Isabella Plantation.

I’ve been visiting Isabella Plantation in Richmond Park [pictured here] since I was a little kid, and it’s the source of so many happy childhood memories. It’s open year-round, and looks beautiful with every season, but summer is my favourite time to visit because it makes a fantastic picnic spot. And you can even take dogs into the gardens with you, as long as they’re kept on a leash at all times.

Where are your favourite hidden hideaways in London?

The timing of this post is great. I’m coming to London next month and I could use all the tips I could get. If You have any recommendations for places to visit (other than the classic touristic spots) I would appreciate them. Thank you very much!

I’m always guilty of doing the exact same things when I visit London and although my sister and I often share other ideas to keep us busy we can’t help but steer back to familiar spots. Definitely adding this to my list, picnic in the park is always a good idea.

p.s. you’re a total cutie, love your look! xx
