Inside the Glamour Women of the Year Awards With Next

Last night I attended the Glamour Women of the Year Awards, which took place in Berkeley Square Gardens. Next were the official sponsors of the awards this year, and they kindly invited Reem and I to sit at their table (which happened to be placed right in-between Samuel L. Jackson and Alexa Chung). I wanted to share a couple of snaps from the night, but I only had my iPhone to work with, so please excuse the shoddy quality…

ASOS Black Dress Ella Coco's Tea Party

It would have been impossible to wear one of Next’s SS14 dresses without matching someone else on their team, so instead I did a last-minute shop on ASOS and picked up this cute LBD (£75 at ASOS, $143 at ASOS USA). I paired it with my favourite laser-cut Next clutch (past season) and Sophia Webster kitten heels.

Revenge‘s Emily VanCamp was walking the red carpet when we arrived and I made it my mission of the evening to get a picture with her as I’m often told we look like we could be related. She was incredibly sweet and later took home the International TV Actress award. Go Emily Thorne!

After my celeb-selfie was ticked off the list we sat down to dinner at the Next table. No one ever really eats at these kind of events, but Reem and I were so hungry that we went against the trend and finished everything on our plates. There was a ricotta, savoury granola and tomato dish to start, then sea bream with salt cod croquettes for the main course, and a crème brûlée with a raspberry & rose sorbet for dessert.

Unfortunately the lights were dimmed for dessert, so all my snaps are completely unusable. You’ll just have to imagine it instead.

Anyway, once dessert was served the host for the evening – Mr Graham Norton – arrived on stage and kicked off the awards. Naturally he was totally hilarious, but his jokes were all so rude there’s absolutely nothing I can repeat on the blog. Here’s a list of some of the night’s big winners – and remember you can find all of the Glamour Women of the Year in the July issue, which is on newsstands now.
