The July issue of British Vogue is looking good! Not only is Christy Turlington back on the cover after 18 years, but it’s also the Ageless Style edition, which means we can expect some great content. Usually I hate anything that tells women it’s possible to look fabulous at any age, because – duh – of course it is! Who said it wasn’t? If someone looks great at 39 they’re not suddenly going to wake up on their 40th birthday resembling a goblin. So we need to stop with the “still looking good at 54″ headlines. They’re stupid and unnecessary – plus no one ever does it to men in the public eye.
But, ignoring those tired Daily Mail clichés, British Vogue’s Ageless Style issues are always brilliant, and for 2014 they’re celebrating Christy, Karlie Kloss, Diane von Furstenberg and Emmanuelle Alt (women they “adore no matter their age”). It’s a great roundup of inspirational characters, so you must rush out and by a copy.
I’m loving Emmanuelle Alt’s Vogue portrait, which captures her enviable Parisian style. Khaki shirts have been on my radar for a couple of months, as they keep popping up in summer editorials, and now that I’ve seen how effortlessly cool Emmanuelle looks in her khaki button-down I want one more than ever.
Topshop is the place to go if you also want to get the look. They have a fantastic selection of khaki shirts in their SS14 collection. Wear them with a pair of black skinny jeans, stiletto sandals and stacks of gold jewellery. Khaki looks particularly brilliant against tanned skin, so you should also consider throwing one over a bikini instead of a kaftan when you’re on holiday.
Do you like Emmanuelle Alt’s British Vogue portrait? Would you wear a khaki shirt?
