My Style: Skipping Around Town in a Statement Shift Dress

Cocos Tea Party Ella Gregory Shift Dress

Twiggy has never been one of my favourite supermodels. I like her, of course, but for me it was always about Christy, Naomi, Lauren and Gisele. However, I’ve been looking at lots of vintage Twiggy images on Pinterest lately, and her signature sixties look is suddenly speaking to me. (This snap of the model at Disneyland is my favourite – I really can’t resist a pair of animal ears).

So that is how I ended up pairing Related’s bright yellow summer shift dress with an incredibly uncomfortable – yet totally adorable – pair of Topshop ballet flats. It’s my modern take on Twiggy! When I wasn’t busy saying “ouch” with every blister-inducing step I felt silly, girly and carefree. The dress has magical Twiggy powers.

Details on the Dress: Related’s Pique Tilly dress is a great mid-price-point buy for the summer. The easy silhouette and yellow meadow print make it perfect for a number of occasions, but most importantly it’s 98% cotton and has a thin lining. I hate it when summer dresses feel too flimsy – they just leave you feeling exposed and uncomfortable if you wear them in the city – but this baby is seriously sturdy!

Twiggy has always been one of my fave supermodels, weirdly it all started with the spiceworld film, the scene where they’re all dressing up as other famous people and baby spice dresses up as twiggy. I absolutely love this dress on you, the colour really suits you and totally agree about needing a sturdy feeling dress during summer! xxxx
